More importantly so to all of us rooting for our beloved Celtics, I wish I am wrong and you are all right.
My point stays that Perk will be a problem at center come playoff time. I only saw one game last playoff where he was outstanding and that was it. Thabeet is not going to meet all the needs you all have mentioned that Perk can offer each game but a strong end-game tall defender like Thabeet can offer a mismatch in that part of an all-important series or plainly a game.
Perk raised his level of play in the playoffs. I really don't want to bump this thread any more, but as a felow Celtics fan, I think it is important that you appreciate our big fella. He pretty mugh neutralized Dwight Howard in last year's playoffs. He would do the same against Bynum and has in the past who is years behind Howard, but with similar skill sets (minus inhuman leaping ability). Perk is huge with good instincts, better strength than 95% of centers, and moves very well laterally.
We are one of the only teams that match up
well with LA's big frontcourt. Sheed, KG, and Perk. If you asked any coach around the league, I bet no one would put the celtics lower than 3rd in frontcourt defense.
Without spending much more time on this here, I am pleading with you to re evaluate Perk's game and start to appreciate him like the rest of us have. After KG and Sheed retire? We may need a different dynamic at the center position, but for right now, he is juuust right.
