  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
My parents are half season ticket holders to the Boston Celtics, I live in New York and haven't been able to go to as many games as I used to, but when I did, he and I always took the train. Now my mother goes to the bulk of the games with him, but she was visiting me, so my Dad went to the game with a friend. Throughout the years that he and I have taken the train home after a game we have seen our share of strange sights, but I never saw anything like what he saw on Friday.

"A drunken stumble at the North Station MBTA stop landed a Cambridge woman inches from death when she plunged into the path of an oncoming Orange Line train, authorities said.

The frantic waving of alert folks on the platform along with the quick actions of the trolley operator stopped the steel wheels seconds before they could roll over the 26-year-old reveler, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said. The shaken trolley operator, whose name was not released, has been on the job about three years and has an excellent track record, he said."

That's my father in the lower left hand corner.

This picture shows just how close this was to being a terrible situation.

Here is a video of the event.

If not for all parties involved this woman would have most likely lost her life. Thank God everyone acted quickly and intelligently.

I am going to be writing a letter to the Celtic's Hero Among Us program recommending my Father, all the MBTA workers, and any other onlookers who participated, all of whose names I need. If you know any of them please send those names on to me. If you would also like to write a letter, PM me and I will give you all the information I have so that you can write one as well.

If you can't that's cool, my Dad used to post on here but has been inactive for a very long time, and he sadly only has two Tommy Points. His screen name is colt45s, I don't know any other way to give him a TP other than to link to his last post. So give him a TP and I am going to try and get him back on here.

That's crazy.  Good thing the train operator was paying attention, and that all the onlookers were diligent in getting her attention.

TPs to your dad.

He's colt45s.

And thank you very much guys for the INSANE increase in Tommy Points. I have a feeling that it just might be due to one or both of the first two guys who replied.  ;)

....What...the...hell.... :o

I'll definitely hand out some TPs to your Dad. And plenty of kudos to the train operator for being alert. He deserves tons of TPs too!

TP for Colt45...and a very interesting thread as well.

And right around same time, the C's were about to dispose of the Lakers in a big way. Good memories.

My friend who I went to the game with was about 10 feet away and saw this go down, he is still freaked out today.  I went my separate ways from him after the game so I didn't see the incident.

Hopefully this girl seriously reevaluates her life after this.  According to accounts, she is in her mid to late 20s (my age) and had been drinking at a bar for hours then staggered off to take the train home by herself.  I can drink my share of alcohol, but being hammered alone in a train station is not my idea of a fun Friday night.  Scary stuff, hopefully something is learned here.

Sadly, I knew numerous girls like this during my time in Boston, except that most of them seemed to end up with some random guy they couldn't remember the name of the next morning.  It amazes me how vulnerable / unsafe some people are willing to be.

Wow, talk about getting way too drunk.  Also, I'm surprised her friends let her go off on her own?  I hope she wasn't with any guys, because that's a pretty scummy move on them to not make sure your female friend got home safe.
do it
