We have no use for a high volume scorer even on the second unit.  With the exception of the game without Daniels, the 2nd unit gets awesome quality shots.  We already have enough offense.
Also, AI is not nearly the player he was two years ago.  Short guards who can't shoot don't age gracefully like Nash, Ray Allen, and Reggie Miller.  The wheels just fall off.  AI's wheels have fallen off.  He never could shoot well, and now he struggles to finish at the rim as well.  He would be useless to us.

I tell you why you definitely do it if you can. Cause come finals time and you're playing the Lakers and Ray Allen and Kobe have both sort of tweaked ankles, and it's pivotal game 5, suddenly Iverson comes off the bench hits 4 quick shots, looks great, and you start thinking "Why the hell isn't he playing for us?"

Exact same situation as the Larry Johnson scenario.

Iverson absolutely has the talent to contribute to an elite team, but only if he can put the team's interests before his own, which he's shown no ability to do.  If he has a change of heart and holds back his ego, he can be a dangerous weapon on a contender.  But I just don't see that happening - the man can't seem to get over himself.

Iverson would a it better than Marbury was last year. You can talk about his talent and ability all you want but the fact is that Philly, Denver and Detroit were better off without him in his prime, and those were solid playoff 2rd type of teams. Celtics would take a big risk taking him and so would any other championship team this year.
He should have tried to work his way up in to the rotation with the Grizz instead off Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing after the first game. I never liked AI but this is sad the way he is acting.
Conclusion: GO PLAY IN EUROPE...

Here are links to Allen Iverson's career stats, compared to Tony Parker's, an 'all-star' guard playing for an elite team:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/parketo01.html

^This should proof that stats aren't everything, especially when considering that Tony Parker has won Finals MVP before. I still feel that A.I. would have no trouble switching to point guard permanently - even if his scoring and minutes suffered as a result it still may do tons to help his marketability.

We'll see if this whole 'leaving the Grizzlies' story has just been blown out of proportion - I mean it's not like he's Michael Vick. Even when Vick wanted to come back to the NFL there were teams at the bottom of the barrel who would have let him start, yet he went to a team where he thought he could win. Hopefully Iverson can put all of the negativity behind him and focus on becoming productive again. Either way, the situation in Memphis looks pretty bleak at times.

I give you he may be overrated. JR Giddens. He is rated somewhat propperly. But if there were an injury scenario of some sort (I seem to remember a big one last year) I'd rather be relying on overrated AI in the clutch than properly rated Giddens or even Walker at this point. House is pushing it, but even then.

Rely on him to do what?  The only thing you can rely on him to do is kill team chemistry and get his coach fired.  You put a guy who plays no defense short of cheating in the passing lanes occasionally on a defensive-oriented team and expect the team to be successful?  You put a guy who is arguably the most selfish player in NBA history on in a team-oriented environment and expect the team to want him on the court in the clutch?

EJA, the most overrated player in NBA history isn't going to have a lobotomy and morph into Ray Allen anytime soon.

Well Iverson, Bron and Shaq... interesting thought

Cleveland, LA, or Orlando sounds like ideal places for Iverson.  The only team I'd be scared to see him on is San Antonio...But I don't think he'd last there either...They'd cut him if he pretended to act up.

Yeah I just don't see how the arrival of Iverson would make the big 3 play worse. Maybe Rondo, but I think the team character is strong enough for him to adjust to them rather than him bring a championship team to its knees by himself and get Doc fired. That would be pretty dramatic. The team already has and has had some characters such as the baby, Sheed, and Steph.
I guess I'd be relying on him to get points, and maybe pass. I think he can do it better than some of our backups so it's just a matter of whether he would

He said he has no problem sitting/coming off the bench provided the team is winning.
