At the very least he should be hovering around last season's woeful numbers but a regression like this is unacceptable especially with this FT missing streak he has going on.
IIRC he started last season passive on offense till he suddenly picked up his play mid-November I think because he said he changed his pre-game routine. Whatever it is I hope he figures it out soon because the team is incredibly better when he's playing his best.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Rondo is looking like an all-time bad FT shooter in the back court.

Considering how good his is as drawing fouls, this is a loss of a few points. Hack a Rondo is looking like a legitimate option.

I'll give him two months to get a feel for his new "improved" shooting form. So long as he is ready for the playoffs, I'll be happy.

Seriously, some of the things I am reading sound nuts to me. The guy supposedly spends all summer working to improve his shot, and now he can't shoot free throws anymore and rarely if ever takes a jump shot. And many are saying we have to be patient and wait until he adjusts to his new form or whatever. This is just mind-boggling to me. And while I, like everyone else don't think that he will shoot 25 percent for the year, I fear that he has regressed to a 50 percent free throw shooter at best.

Ok 12 games and he is still shooting 25 percent, 4-16 after tonight's 1-4 showing. I don't care how good of a game he had, if he can't hit free throws it eventually is going to kill this team. I can't remember any point guard in the history of the game shooting this poorly. And, we are now 15 percent into the season, so I don't want to hear the small sample thing.

There are certainly valid reasons to be concerned.

Sure. It hurt Shaq's teams too. But they still won championships with him.

FT shooting is just one part of his game. He will likely be inbounding the ball when we have out FT shooting team in.

16 shots is a small sample. % of the season means nothing.

Nevertheless, do people really improve their FT shooting that much during the course of the season? I don't know.

Rondo unveils new free-throw routine
Quote
WALTHAM -- While the second unit worked on their half-court set during Monday's Celtics practice, the starters (minus Paul Pierce) were down on the other end, engaged in a heated free-throw competition.

Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo took turns at the line, taking two foul shots a piece, in a race to see who could reach 21 points first (I believe there were extra points involved for "swishes" but not entirely sure). There's was hazing, psych-outs and loads of trash talk flying around the gym, and in the end, believe it or not, Kendrick Perkins emerged victorious.

The competition also showcased Rajon Rondo's newest foul-shot routine. Rondo's stance and preparation are about the same, but now, just before releasing the ball, he slightly rotates his upper body to the right, in what looks like an attempt to ensure that his shoulder are square with the hoop.

Either way, Rondo was far more consistent than the 25 percent shooter we've seen thus far.

"He's gonna be fine," Doc Rivers said. "He's getting better, and I thought he shot them better last night. I've said very little to him about. I'm just letting him figure it out, and i feel confident that he will."

Hopefully we'll see the improvements in-game soon
And way to go Perk!

I'm sorry but this is a terrible sign. He is changing his form and routine which means it is in his head. If he needs this device to straigten out his elbow then he is a long ways awawy from being an even decent shooter. I am a very positive person but I am troubled by this.
