Scali, JR and Hudson (plus cash to help them buy out Scali)

for

Law and Wright

Law is lost in mix in GS.  Wright is constantly in the dog house and injured.  With another year after this, they might just want to say goodbye.

Honestly, not sure of this trade.  Law size, defense and ball hanling and passing skills make him a good fit next to House; but his shooting make him hard to play.  And can the Celtics really trust him to be the starter if Rondo goes down?

The plus is he is still in his last year so if this trade is made early in the season, he can still be packaged with TA for a better PG.

If I'm GS I'm like "Throw in a first rounder and I'll do it"

It's one of the rare salary dumps that I think makes a team better, cause they have so many young guys competing for minutes and money that just clearing some guys out, at least temporarily and saving money at the same time might help them.

If I'm the Celts I might rather not do it and just keep the money. Those guys haven't shown much. I think Hudson might turn out better than Law. Scal might actually offer more than Wright this year

Tough to say

No way can the Celtics give up a 1st rounder for this.

Obviously, but I struggle to see why Golden State would. Scal, JR and Hudson would all more or less be end of the bench/IR players for them.. Even thought Wright might be in the dog house, he's still got tons of upside.. Neither of the players from Celtic has that (even though I like Hudson, I doubt he'd be a fit in GS).

30th pick in the draft?  Maybe get a 2nd back then.

Oh, teams would do that in a heart beat.  They rather have the high 2nd then a late first. Talent level, not a big difference.  Contracts for the 2nd rounder are so much more team friendly.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. I confused us cause I was thinking GS does it if they can also get a first, but I wasn't thinking about the 1rst if the Celts would do it. I should have been consistent

  • Rondo = Good
Brendan Wright has real talent and potential.  Acie Law...ehh dunno about that.  Don Nelson was quoted saying that Brendan Wright was the best player at training camp before he got injured.  So I'm not so sure Golden State would be quick to part with him.

Plus he's more of a PF than a SF, and we're not as in need of a PF.

I'd like to get Wright.  He'd be a replacement for Wallace or Garnett down the line.

Yes, I'd do it, but I don't think Golden State would be salivating over our package.

Yeah, and I'm not a big fan of his contract. Could taking this on make the Celtics hesitant to resign MD or use the MLE? Very possible. I shoot this trade down, let the contracts expire and bring in (or keep) veteran guys that have playoff experience.

The C's have had enough project players over the last decade.

I want to see what Hudson has.  I know it's garbage time...But his minutes have been productive and he seems to have great court sense.

I wouldn't do any trade at this point, but none the less....

I thought we wanted a backup SF. Wright's a PF. Did I miss something?

If we don't need Hudson, what's the point of Acie Law? I'd rather have Daniels.

The only thing I have seen Brandon Wright do is open dunks on fast breaks at UNC.  The kid can jump, I dont know about his basketball skills.
