As we could expect (per Chris Mannix):
Quote
NBA spokesman just told me no action will be taken against Rajon Rondo or Chris Paul for altercation in Boston last week

And Doc answered questions (from WEEI) about the Rondo/Paul incident and said that Chris started it, pretty interesting to learn that Rondo wasn't in fault there :

Quote
Did he cross the line with Chris Paul?

No, that wasn’t confidence. I don’t know what that was. Chris did an interesting thing. I think he thought that he got under Rondo’s skin during the game so he tried to continue it during the game. It was a learning less for Rajon. After the game he even said, ‘I can’t let talk affect my play.’ And it did in that game. That’s what players do. They think they can get you in any way, they’ll do it. Chris Paul did it.

Everyone is portraying Rondo as the antagonist, but it sounds like he was responding to what Chris Paul was doing.

Which is fine. I told him, it’s a competition, and it’s great to play in great competition, but once the game is over then the competition is over and you let it go. I thought during the game it was more Paul. That’s part of competition. But once the game is over, you let it go. You shake the guys hand and say we’ll get you again.

Figured that's what would happen. The public magnifying glass that the investigation caused was probably all the punishment the NBA needed for this case.

Heaven forbid two basketball players not like each other!

Good news.  It should've been a non-issue in the first place.

Just two guys trash talking and being competitive.

I dont know about anyone else but i feel the NBA is getting punishment happy for any time anyone looks like they had their feelings hurt.
"Sam Cassell was heckling on the sideline when I walked down, He looked at me and was like, ‘You're getting the ball, I know you're getting the ball!'
said Allen.

And did Cassell, a man of many words, have anything to say after that?

"No, I told him he needed to wear a tie."

I'm glad this distraction is over with.

But if there was a fine, it probably should have come out of Perk's pocket. I love Perk, but he certainly caused a stir for his best buddy with those words about Chris Paul.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I love how Chris Mannix described it as a "fight".

While Doc is describing it as competition, Byron Scott is describing it as "jealousy"

Ah yes, I'm sure he's jealous of all the NBA championship rings Chris has...oh wait.  ::)

Why punish C3P? Isn't all this losing pain enough?

Talk about "much ado about nothing" ... I hope this puts this silly story to sleep for good. Personally, I love the rivalry and tension ... feels a little more like the golden days of the 80's. Chippiness is just part of the game, and these little incidents are obviously being milked to generate more excitement and revenue, understandably ... it's called "competition". ;)

Byron Scott. His initials seem more and more fitting everyday.
At least this incident can now be forgotten until February where it will be resurrected and once again beaten to death.

Chris Paul acts like a punk on the floor.

Maybe it gets his juices going, but he can't take it if somebody stands up against him and doesn't give him the "respect" he feels he so richly deserves.

Yeah ... he's barely six feet, but he's got a seven-plus arrogance ... he hates Rondo cuz he gets outplayed by him, and hasn't a chance of keeping up with his speed defensively. The truth is Rondo makes him look mediocre, and he can't deal with it. (TP)
