I feel that many of the alley oop pass misses aren't because hes still out of shape but because he wasn't ready for them. I recall a few that he didn't see them coming until it was too late and didn't get there in time. And one pass that was a little too high in the air.
He has missed a few good one but lets face it, he's older and has had surgery. It's going to take a long time before he's back to himself. And at this age "himself" probably won't be what you're used to seeing.
At some point Rondo is going to have to stop throwing them if KG isn't finishing.  That wouldn't be cool.

I think it's as much of a timing issue as it is a physical one, personally.  By the end of the year (when it matters), he'll be back in sync.

To elaborate on Roy's point, it took quite a while in KG's first season here for him and Rondo to develop the timing on those plays. It doesn't necessarily come back in the first week or two.

Also, as we noticed during all of TA's comebacks, it takes a little while for the player to trust their knee even after it's healthy. I'd worry if he were missing dunks in January/February, and I wouldn't talk about permanent problems before then. 6 games is way too soon.

he doesn't look the same to me.  I think Sheed is better right now.

The only question we have to ask is if he will be better after an 82-game season.

People were worried that he wouldn't even be ready to start the season. He starts the season, and suddenly there are complaints that he doesn't look like the KG of old. Where's the patience?

Considering his injury and surgery, KG looks great to me, and is progressing at a good clip. He moves better each night and is elevating well. He's certainly not 100% yet, but then he's not expected to be. People are over-reacting in a big way with the Ticket and his recovery, and we all need to take a deep breath and realize that this thing takes time. He had a bad game the other night, but the fact is that's normal, regardless of physical condition ... people have bad days, and it doesn't mean the sky is falling.

I don't see reason to worry this early. It took Ray a season to fully recover from his spur removal and KG hasn't played in months before preseason started. As long as he's healthy in the playoffs I'm fine with him slowly working his way back and driving our defense.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

he's still effective on defense.  He can move side to side pretty well, he still can deflect shots and cause trouble.

On offense, he's not the same right now.

He's still better than Sheed on offense because of his passing. Sheed's to one dimensional.

Plus he'll actually post up more than Sheed, scarily enough...

Kevin Garnett is not healthy. No way he is over 70%. I don't care what anybody says.

I almost want the alley-oops to stop until KG knows he can make them.  I think he's missed more than he's made thus far.  Alley-oops should guaranteed baskets.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Yeah that's an important distinction. Physically uninjured, and therefore healthy, but still not back to being the old KG--it takes a lot of time to regain strength and muscle memory.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.
