I really would like to see if Rondo would take chances and risks like allowing his opponent to blow by him so he can make a poke steal....when Rondo doesn't have Perk or KG behind him.

And this would prove what?

CP3 is a elite player, Rajon is not elite yet, not even All-Star yet.

Not that I'm too much into metrics - but in his MVP caliber year, and as the MVP debate went on, it was brought up that CP3's defense was so poor statistically that it offset his offensive contributions (according to metrics).  I know these defensive metrics can be very flawed, but it matches what I see in my eyes.  He's good for steals, but he's not a good defensive player.  In his defense, I believe his defensive metrics were vastly improved last season.

CP3 is an elite fantasy basketball player.  He's not yet an elite player with the likes of Lebron/Kobe, no way.

Which defensive metrics are you talking about here?

Don't recall much that I've read about CP3's defense that year either way, so I'd be curious to take a look if you can be a bit more specific.

I find the most shocking part of that argument that Ray Allen apologized in the other team's locker room. How is that not a bigger story>?

My guess is that he's referring to 2007-2008 adjusted plus/minus. It placed CP3s defense as bad enough to reduce him to a middling player. Which just goes to show you that adjusted plus/minus is a very noisy measure.

Shocker. ::)
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I mean...CP3 against Rondo!? I'm a Celtic fan but I just can't stand our point guard. I'm hoping he gets a lesson this year because the new contract and his championship ring have all gone to his head. No class at all.

WHOOO CARESSSS!!!???

CP3 is better than Rondo
Kobe is better than Ray
Lebron is better than PP
KG isn't as good as he was so eventually someone will be dubbed better
Howard is better than Perk

see a pattern?

Apparently he didn't.

Quote
Allen denied part of a Yahoo! [YHOO] Sports report that claimed he later went into the New Orleans locker room to apologize to Paul for Rondo’s actions. Though he went into the locker room to meet with Paul, Allen said he didn’t apologize.

“Chris was giving us an autographed jersey for the High Hopes Fund,” Allen said of a charity his family supports that is sponsored by the Joslin Diabetes Center. “Chris and I share the tie of being Brand Jordan athletes, so we’re in contact.

“I did ask him, ‘What was going on between the two of you on the floor?’ and he said, ‘It was just the two of us out there competing, that’s all.’ ”

Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Exactly, it was the defensive +/- and defensive FG% +/-, isolated to CP3 - there was also opposing PG FG% while he was in the game, which might be the only real telling stat (I'll try to find the exact stats later on).

Yes, they have to be taken with a grain of salt - as all those metrics do - but I do not think CP3 is - overall - a good defensive player, do you?

I do think he's a good defensive point guard. Go find your stats, then we'll actually have something to talk about.

I wonder if Wojnarowski is going to correct his statements.

Writers should be fined when they make crap up or don't do their due diligence in getting their facts straight.
