Dwight Howard's Defense

I'm wondering if anyone else has caught Dwight Howard in action this season.  I've been really impressed with how his man-to-man defense has improved.  Last season I thought he was decidedly average, especially after Kendrick Perkins had some success against him on the block.

I caught the Magic's games vs. the Nets and the Raptors and he completely frustrated two fine young offensive big men in Brook Lopez and Chris Bosh.  Howard just shut down Lopez' back to the basket game, keeping 15 feet from the basket and forcing bad passes, turnovers or wild shots.  Against Toronto in the 4th quarter, Howard completely closed off the drive to Bosh, forcing jumpers and critical turnovers. 

Has anyone else noticed?

Fundamentally he is nothing special, but with his athleticism he's just plain dominant... LOL sounds like Lebron. I've yet to see a game but he improves every year a big reason the Magic were the surprise team last year.

I watch "Superman" when he plays the Celtics because I have to ... my stomach can't handle anything more. I know he's a great ball player and one of the NBA's "chosen" stars, I just don't like him, sorry. He has enough rabid fans, he won't miss me. Thoughtful post, though ... TP.
