Why coming off a game high 42 minutes last night, does doc still have Ray in the game in the 4th quarter up 26 with 10 min left?! ??? It wasn't until Tommy Heinsohn made mention of the fact that Ray had logged the most minutes in the game and most of the bench players had only 10 minutes that doc took Ray out.

Ray plays the most minutes on the team each of the first two games (42, 38) on back to backs, especially when the latter is a blow-out?

Is there any possible, reasonable, logical explanation for this other than doc is asleep at the wheel?

And why do we pay like 4 assistant coaches if they don't let him know these things?

man i just wouldn't be celticsblog without panic threads over minor details early in the season  ;)

I mean, i though ray played a bit to long tonight, to be sure, but only about 3-4 minutes.

No cause for a "doc's the worst coach ever" thread  ::)

Would you be saying that if he had snapped his ankle in his 40th minute?

Yes, because this is basketball and injuries happen. Heck, injuries happen even when your not playing minutes to some players.

Are we going to second guess every second a player is on the floor over the 30 minute mark all year? does doc need celticsblog approval on every minute for a starter over 30?

God i hope not. This is just as ridiculous as the debate about brady coming out after half time or after one drive based on the "but if he had been hurt that first drive, you'd be singing a different tune!" attack.

There injuries, they happen, you move on. Ray might slip in the shower tonight to.

armchair micromanagement and nitpicking, thy name is celticsblog.

Does last season count as a trend?  ;)

Ummmm because Pierce and Daniels were in early foul trouble, Scal, the backup 3 this year, is hurt, and, BTW unless you weren't paying attention during the fourth period, JR Giddens is pathetic against second team Bobcats, nevermind first team Bobcats.

What is he supposed to do, reward Giddens for playing horribly by making him the first 3 off the bench in the third quarter because the fans are worried that Ray has played too many minutes after JUST TWO GAMES!!

Come on. Get real. This isn't mid season. It's game freaking 2.

No Walker, no Tony, and JR looks terrible.  We can't play House at the 2 against Gerald Wallace.  I would've liked to see Pierce stay in a little and put Marquis at the 2, but that's the main reason why Ray's getting all those minutes.

Marquis and PP's early foul trouble resulted in Ray playing a bit of minutes.

It'll even out after we DESTROY the Chicago Bulls on friday night.

If the player is an integral part of the team, over 32, and the team is up by about 25 points in the 3rd quarter I'd say the answer is probably yes

Here's what I don't understand:  why can't Doc's most strident supporters admit that there are some things he does less than perfectly?

I'm absolutely on board with the idea that Doc plays Ray too many minutes.  Tonight was a perfect opportunity to get all of the starters plenty of rest.

well, that's your prerogative and i still think it is utterly ridiculous.

How will Giddens get better this year if he can't even get into games to relieve 33 year olds when they're up 20 points at home?
