Forgive me if there's already a thread about this show, but I needed to comment after the first 30 seconds of last nights episode. I have never been more heartbroken and excited at the same time. Its good to have Nathan Fillion back on television.

Give the man a tp. And his daughter's reaction " First. There are no cows in space. Second.. Didn't you wear that 5 years ago?"

Yeah that depressed me too

Serenity/Firefly is probably my biggest let down of TV. They at least got to make a movie, but heck of a show.

I guess my second biggest is "The Dresden Files".

However, just to say..

I like Castle. It is kind of ordinary, and seeing Nathan Fillion following up Captain Hammer and Malcomb Reynolds with Richard Castle kinda stinks. I like Fillion more when he's a tough guy, but I like that he's getting work, and once and a while does something cool and doesn't seem to be scared of very much.

BBBBBBUT.

There was a piece on NPR a few months ago. It was basically saying that many older but now defunct franchises might be getting a boost soon. Apparently studios make more money from DVD sales than they ever could from movie theater sales. The thinking is that well made novel structured TV series and made for TV movies (like BSG, the Wire) do far better on DVD than most movies do in theaters and DVD combined. Also, series/stories involving shows with cult-like followings, and well developed characters means less money and less risk on the studio's side.

Firefly was one of those mentioned that would be logical to take another look at, since the only cast members dead was Wash and the precher, and since there was still a heck of a lot of story left open.

Well just look around. New Boondock Saints coming out this year. remake of "V" on air right now.

It's a trend.

I dunno, i'd have to think summer wouldn't be interested at this point, and isn't the girl who played inara locked up in another project too?

Sadly, as I am a huge Firefly mark as well, i think that ship has sailed out into the black  :'(

Wash is on the same show as Inara, "V". Zoe is on FlashForward and Jayne is on Chuck. Stupid talented casts and their moving on with their lives. Heck, even Saffron is on "Mad Men".

So I guess I would have had to have watched these other shows to understand what you are all talking about. I did happen to watch Castle last night and I must say, I see no reason to ever watch it again. While it wasn't awful it certainly wasn't good.

Really a pretty boring show, but that's just my opinion.
