All Clippers jokes aside, I'm disappointed for Griffin and for the fans. Here's hoping for an easy recovery and strong return.

Quote from: Los Angeles Times
Clippers rookie forward Blake Griffin, the No. 1 overall draft choice in the NBA draft in June, has a stress fracture of the left patella, or kneecap, and could miss as much as six weeks.

Tests on Monday revealed the fracture and a second opinion later in the day backed up the conclusion of the first doctor.

A Clipper spokesperson said it is a non-displaced fracture. But the team will take a conservative approach, meaning he could be out of action for the first 20 games or so of the NBA schedule. Griffin is also dealing with tendinitis of the left knee.

He aggravated the injured knee in the team's final preseason game against New Orleans on Friday, wincing after he came down on a dunk.

Wow that is awful news for the Clips.

Hoping its just a one off for Blake (and clippers fans), and he doesnt have a year like oden had.

This shouldn't come as a surprise.  This sort of stuff happens to all of the players the Clippers select with high draft picks.  They either turn out to be duds, or they suffer severe injuries.

This is just a precursor to his potentially career threatening knee injury (if not this season then in the next couple of seasons) which will require season ending surgery and will prompt a trade to another team (where he will then play well and remain healthy).

It must really suck to be a Clippers fan.  I'm  not sure why they're cursed, but surely they are cursed.

In other news, this should have a serious effect on the ROY race.  Will give guys like Tyreke Evans and Stephen Curry a real chance.  Or somebody else you wouldn't even expect.

Well at least they'll get a chance to dig a deep enough hole to ensure a top 5 pick instead of the top 10 they'd probably get with him there.

...God it's good to be a Celtics fan :D

Who couldn't see this coming?  The clips are just a doomed franchise.  Well, that ruins the 2nd tnt game for me tonight.  I was excited about it too.
And in related news, Baron Davis is so upset, that he gained 10lbs overnight, and he plans on gaining another 15lbs today.  He plans on coming back in shape next year when Griffin is healthy.

Wow. I have been watching his preseason highlights lately and he looks like an absolute animal. A young Sir Charles. Heres to a speedy recovery because he was about to set the leaque on fire.

Wow, that franchise is snakebitten.

Not good news, I was really interested to see how his game was going to translate to the professional level (my gut was telling me that he'd be fun).

Let's hope this remaing isolated and doesn't lead to any long term health issues down the road.

Really unfortunate break for Blake & the Clippers.  Hope he comes back healthy and stronger.

Just a complete bummer.  Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for the top pick.

That takes some of the air out of the second game of the TNT doubleheader tonight, though I'm still curious about seeing Artest in purple-and-gold, and there's still a lot of raw talent to watch on that Clips team, even if I'm not sold on how good they'll be.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
"The Clippers season was decidedly derailed a little bit Friday when 2009 first overall draft pick Blake Griffin somehow managed to break his knee cap (cough Danny Manning, cough) in the Clippers' final preseason game. In other news, water is still wet, and the sun rose in this East today and is anticipated to set in the West."
