so I noticed that he's still a free agent, and it seems like no team is interested in him. I don't know why I assumed someone picked him up, but why not the Celtics?

He has major talent, we all know that....his headaches cant be any worse than marbury's and marbury did nothing wrong while playing with us(other than sucking). The Celtics would then have the best pg combo in the league, and we have our insurance guy in Tinsley in case rondo goes down, and Marquis can slide back to being the backup 3.

I was a big fan of Tinsley's back in the day, and he's actually coming from a pretty similar situation as Marbury's, but imo he is less crazy. Midseason or right now, we wont have a chance of adding a pg of his caliber at any point this season, he's easily the most talented out of any pg that is a FA or will potentially be bought out.

Well, it would be hard to perform any worse than Marbury.  However, after the Starbury experience, I don't want to gamble on any player coming off of a year-plus layoff.

Plus, I'm sure the team wouldn't want to pair up Daniels and Tinsley again; those two have gotten into some trouble before, which is one of the reasons Indiana saw both as dispensable.

Has Indiana bought Tinsley out?  I hadn't heard anything.  Absent a buyout he's Indiana's property and on their payroll at $5.2K annually until 2011.

Yeah, they bought him out, Brick.

Well then, if he's in shape he's a better option than Marbury. Tinsley can run an offense.  But his off court behavior has been a major issue.  I recall an incident in a nightclub also involving Stephen Jackson, plus some other things.

If Rondo goes down for a significant amount of time, then I think we can talk about bringing in a vet PG like this.  Until then however, I really like House and Daniels as the backcourt off the bench.

If Rondo goes down, Tinsley may already have signed elsewhere and in any event won't know the Celtics' offense.

That's why they need to bring in a backup point guard asap unless they think Hudson can do it.

This is true.  But I would not be surprised if they feel that Hudson can fill in as backup PG as well as just about anyone available right now.

Tinsley has not played in a LONG time, and even when he was playing, he was not that great.  When you combine that with his character questions, and it doesn't make sense to bring him in here unless you are really desperate.

Ultimately, if Rondo were to go down, I expect them to go with House and Daniels as much as they can, and then look at trades along the lines of what the Magic did last year for Alston.  This is why it is so important that they hold onto the expiring contracts as long as they can.  They will be very important if someone goes down, and they need to fill a hole with a legit NBA rotation player.

I think of Marbury as mentally ill, I think of Tinsley as more of a bad person.  I used to like his talent, but I think I'd pass on him at this point.

I thought Tinsley was going to Miami, or did Pat Riley realize that combining Tins and South Beach wasn't going to be such a great idea?
