Sweetney hasn't been cut.

EDIT: I just read the Twitter update:

Quote
The C's have requested waivers on F Michael Sweetney. He averaged 3.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in 5 games. Roster stands at 15.

So it will be Walker, Tony (both injured), and Giddens (worst player in the league).

I say look at it this way

Rondo/Eddie/Lester
Ray/Marquis/Giddens/Tony
Pierce/Walker
KG/Baby/Scal/Williams
Perk/Rasheed

That is really our depth chart be position. For that reason with Tony and Walker out, the depth chart becomes:

Rondo/Eddie/Lester
Ray/Marquis/Giddens
Pierce
KG/Baby/Scal/Williams
Perk/Rasheed

I just don't see the team activating Hudson over Giddens as Scal and Giddens, even though they would be playing slightly out of position, are the only back ups for Pierce that aren't already playing larger roles elsewhere.

I think Lester sits to have more depth at the forward positions as the C's can literally have Pierce or Daniels play a point forward position with Rondo off the floor or can have Ray or Eddie bring the ball up and initiate the offense. Lester is a luxury at this point and will be shipped to the NBDL with Walker and Giddens once the NBDL opens.

Here's the press release:

Quote
The Boston Celtics announced today that they have requested waivers on forward Michael Sweetney.

Sweetney signed with the Celtics on September 28 as a free agent. The former Georgetown Hoya appeared in five games for the Celtics during the 2009 preseason and averaged 3.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.4 minutes per game. The Celtics roster now stands at 15.

Well, TA and Walker won't dress because they're hurt, and Giddens won't dress because he'll be with the Red Claws.  That leaves 12.

To start the season?  Tony is injured and can't even play, so why dress Tony over Lester since in a pinch Lester could actually play?

Assuming everyone's available, that would be the 3 I would anticipate seeing in street clothes or in a Red Claws uni.

Doc isn't sitting a vet in favor of any them.  Hell would freeze over first.  When healthy, TA, Scal and Williams will all be suited up for the games.

more reasonable to speculate based on everyone being healthy.  obviously injuries will impact game-to-game rosters.
