Yeah ... I don't get that decision ... they should've gone for it, especially knowing he'd missed earlier. Don't agree with that call, I know it makes sense on paper, but you've got to be more aggressive in that situation ... this is the playoffs..

If you feel like interacting with your fellow man, you can post in the NFL Wild Card Weekend thread.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with solitude, either. ;)

Wasn't sure where to put this. I definitely didn't think it deserved it's own spot.

It may seem quite moot now, but I was thinking today.

Hypothetically say Brady is hurt and can't go. So Hoyer is in there, but then he gets hurt too. Let's say both injuries are two week injuries. What happens in terms of 3rd string QB?

I assume the #3 QB is probably Edelman because he was a college QB. Isiah Stanbeck was also a college QB last year, but I don't think he knows the offense as well, he's an extra year or two removed from playing QB, and at that point they're losing the game anyway so there's no real point to trying to keep Edelman out there at WR to try to give them an extra chance to win

Then that week they're placing calls to the following guys I assume and begging them to come in for workouts, etc

Andrew Walter (I think he's out there)

M Guiterez (or did the Chiefs take him)

Kevin O'Connell

Vinny T

Doug Flutie

some random NFL reject like Chris Redman or maybe they call Jake Plummer and say "Oh commmmme ooonnnnn. It's just two weeks! You'll get paid!"

Whoever retired last year....Kelly Holcomb? Possibly some former Heisman guy like Jason White or something.

Some draftee guy that didn't make it. Hunter Cantwell. Chase Daniel?

The Cardinals win on the most obvious lack of a "Facemask" call that I've ever seen ... there are most assuredly some angry Packers fans this morning, and I don't blame them one bit. Horrible, horrible way for an incredible game to end. Green Bay fans ... I am with you. What a shame of the lowest caliber.

Yeah, there was a face mask, but I have no problem with the refs missing that call.  The ball was already out before the face mask; it in no way caused the fumble.  Because of that, I'd rather see the game decided by a great defensive effort, rather than on a technicality.

Again, I know it's technically a penalty, but Rodgers coughed up the game before his face mask was initially hit, then grabbed.  I'm sure the refs didn't overlook the penalty on purpose, but I'm glad they did.

Good one from the Onion

INDIANAPOLIS—At his weekly press conference Monday, Colts head coach Jim Caldwell announced that he will rest key starters during the divisional round of the AFC playoffs to keep his players fresh for a Super Bowl run. "You can't win the Super Bowl if you don't get there with all your players healthy," said Caldwell, who added that next Saturday quarterback Peyton Manning would probably get the first two series, which will mostly be comprised of running plays. "Dwight [Freeney] and Dallas [Clark] will get about a quarter in the AFC Championship game. But honestly, even if we make it to the Super Bowl, I can't see playing these guys the whole game. The 2010 season is closer than you think." Throughout the entire press conference Manning could be seen in full uniform, stalking and pacing in the back of the room.

Sad news out here today.

Quote
Chicago Bears defensive end Gaines Adams died Sunday morning in South Carolina, county coroner James T. Coursey said. Adams was 26.

Adams was taken to the emergency room at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood, where was pronounced dead, the Greenville News first reported. There are reports that Adams suffered a heart attack, but an official cause of death has not been determined, and an autopsy is planned.

Adams was born in Greenwood, South Carolina, and played his college football at Clemson. He was the 2006 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers chose him with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. The Buccaneers traded Adams to the Bears during the 2009 regular season.

In his three-year NFL career, Adams played in 47 games and recorded 13.5 sacks.

I was hopeful a new team would help him. A lot of guys just need a different environment to excel in the NFL. The Bears had a lot of success with Thomas Jones and other players who they gave another chance.

Just sad for someone to pass so young, I'm very curious as to what happened.
