after seein him play the C's twice over the last week, CDR should've been the 30th pick.  Oh well, no biggie, but JR still doesn't seem to get it. CDR would be great w/ the second unit of House, Marquis, Baby and Sheed.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
CDR is gonna be a journeyman that bounces around the league as a sometimes starter, most times sixth man..a lot like Fransico Garcia

Also he hates the nickname CDR. He prefers to be called "Freshy Pants". True story.

JR might be just as good of a player, if he was on the nets he'd be getting time too. Theres no way to tell.

I don't understand the fascination with CDR.

Is Donny Marshall dating CDR?  I've never seen a commentator gush over another player for doing abslolutely nothing like Marshall does to CDR.  I agree he's going to be a journeyman.  Marshall thinks he's the 2nd coming of Kobe.  I was sick of the gushing early in the season last year and he's still at it.  Yuck.

If 'ifs' and 'buts' were candy and nuts...

Douglas-Roberts wouldn't be seeing a lot of playing time with the C's, so he wouldn't be developing here like he is there.

I totally agree that there were tons of players I wanted Danny to take over JR...

Specifically CDR, Mario Chalmers, Luc Richard, and Deandre Jordan like VT has already said but lets not give up on JR and Billy yet...

JR has looked really good to me this preseason so far and I still feel that Billy has tons of potential and could end up being a pretty good bench player to boarderline starter by the end of his career.

So you never seen Tommy Heinsohn gush over a player for doing absolutely nothing?

Rather have Mbah a Moute than CDR, quite frankly.

But the original point is correct. Never been crazy about Giddens and can think of several last year I would have rather had.

As would I, but I don't think anyone expected Mbah a Moute to do what he's done in the league.  After watching him play the 4/5 in college, he never really got to show how much skill he actually had.  I really did not think he was going to be able to play the 3, but he's done a great job and is turning into quite the defender.
do it

Agree. I think Danny's fascination with the hard luck story or the one that took the most unique path can be a weakness at times. Sometimes a player on a well coached team that plays against good competition day in day out is going to be a superior player. I think CDR lacked a certain maturity and could be seen as soft; but he can grown into a good player in this league.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I agree that Giddens was one of Danny's miscalculations.  He drafted an older player because he thought he'd be able to contribute quickly.  However, Doc has absolutely no confidence in him to contribute.  If we were going to draft a guy to sit at the end of the bench, I'd rather have gone with a guy with more upside.

Mario Chalmers and CDR were the players that most fans wanted at the time.  I wasn't all that enamored with DeAndre Jordan at the time, but he'd look better as our 14th man than Giddens, I think.

yeah, i agree. I think it's always dangerous to draft someone because they're 'NBA ready.' Especially at 30th in the draft. It just seems like every year there are tons of players that are called 'NBA read,' which seems like it's a code for "they've already peaked," and most of them flop. Odds are overwhelming that they're just not going to cut it; at this point you're better off just picking players you think have the best shot at being NBA players at any point. Seems like there are very few players who progress really slowly then breakout; most players, if they're going to be players, show something within 2-3 years anyway, so just pick the guys you think have a shot at being real NBA players. For me, Chalmers would have been the guy, or possibly Jordan (I have to admit that i was not on the CDR bandwagon before the draft and we'll see if he ever does anything in non-preseason games and I completely thought that luc-richard would stink. There, I can admit i'm wrong!)

Especially knowing that Doc is the coach and he probably won't play a rookie anyway.

I don`t like CDR. He can score a bit but that is it. He will be a journey man in the NBA, IMO...

Jordan, Chalmers, Moute however...
