OP says Paul is incapable of doing this

I said Pierce can't stop the Dream Shake, he can easily beat the usual pull up jumper, Kobe's present day bread 'n butter.

its not a big deal for a SG/SF to have a post move like that

A money ball is a big deal. When a player has a move-shot which is virtually unstoppable, w/o help defenders, then you have a serious problem. Kobe, as is, is no problem for Pierce going one-on-one, in a typical contest.

I think you over estimate a single new shot would do for Kobe's offensive efficiency.

You also under rate how effective Kobe is currently, even guarded by Pierce.

Agreed.  I also think he is overrating the Dream Shake in general.  It really is not that great a move.  It was just that Hakeem was fantastic, not the actual move.

Right now, Kobe is the best post up guard in the league by a large margin.  I don't think adding this move is going to widen the gap that much though.

So many people do this move already.  I've seen Rondo do it, I've seen Tony Parker do it, numerous players already have.  Great move no doubt, but you it's not a real go to move, if you do it over and over the defender eventually knows where the ball is coming from.
do it

Rondo does it every now and then, but often will not convert or will travel.  I think it is a much harder series of moves than the typical post fake.

I also agree with everyone that Lebron learning this would be devastating, if only because it would keep him from jacking up low percentage threes.

The reason why the Dream Shake isn't a go-to move for the ordinary player is that they're limited to basically a single fake and lose it on the turnaround, thus making it predictable, when used too often.

Olajuwon had made it unstoppable by incorporating numerous fakes and thus forced help defenses. It wasn't him going one-on-one with let's say Ewing; he'd also attracted help from Mason, thus creating a kick out opportunity to Maxwell. For Kareem, when he'd get into the post and catch the ball, McHale needs to come in to stop the pivot, for the Sky Hook and thus, Worthy gets his running shoes in place for the subsequent pass plus Tomahawk jam. And the Lakers ran this play, over and over.

Good call HC, i've watched a few games on NBA tv with "The dream". KG and Hakeem have that shimy shimy turn around jumper. We see KG do it almost every game.
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

Yeps  ;)

Now, the real LA killer will be the day when Perks gets the Sky Hook. That's when the overrated Bynum will look like a tool on defense. Bynum will not get the help defense from either Gasol or Odom, since that'll let either Wallace or Garnett go on a scoring rampage, at will  8)
