wow, cant believe people are relishing and making jokes about the possibility of someone having swine flu, knowing the seriousness of it.  very tasteless, immature, and overall makes u look like jerks.

<i know, i know.....i should lighten up, not be so serious, chill, and whatever other response u may want to give me  ::)

Yeh.  It is a bit harsh.  I can certainly remember feeling kind of good if a rival had an injury on the court and wouldn't be available.  Maybe "good" is the wrong word - fortunate perhaps. I'm sure lots of people were tickled pink about KG being out last year, and I certainly have shed nary a tear over Bynum the last two seasons. But if people are truly illin' I can't get too happy about it.
Yup

im sorry but swine flu is not as serious as you think it is.  I am from toronto and there is NOTHING about it on the news even though canada has had more cases than the US.  We have gotten our vaccines and we have an absolutely amazing health care system to keep us from worrying, but the reality is that there is very little to worry about.  Right now it is weaker than the average flu.  Furthermore, the virus only stays alive on surfaces for 5 minutes, wehre as some common flu's can stay active for days.  I had a very mild case of it and barely even missed school.  I turn on CNN and there is CODE RED warnings and on fox news glen beck is crying telling people this pandemic is going to end the world.  Everyone relax, lebron will be fine.

with all that said i feel totally fine laughing at lebron, maybe he will vomit up that giant ego of his.  this is hillarious and i hope it is true as long as he is fully healthy for the season opener (i want to beat them without any lebron fans lame excuses)

the truth of the matter is that there is conflicting reports about the seriousness of it.  due to the "unknown", it is serious, until all the facts are out there.  the cdc is still learning about it.

as i said b4, ur willingness to laugh at this demonstrates immaturity and overall lack of respect for others.  aside from a bball player, more importantly he is a father to a young child.  would it be funny if the illness was spread to his child?  there are bigger things than bball to consider.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

the fact about his child is a good point i didnt think about that.  but clearly lebron james, pretty much the peak of human fitness, is not going to be very effected by h1n1 (if he does indeed have it).  And i laugh not because I want him to have it, but because as soon as lebron james does anything it is THE biggest news in basketball, I wouldnt be surprised if he was on twitter glorifying himself as a survivor and the chosen one by tomorrow. If it was any other player (besides one of our beloved celtics) no one would care... so i guess im just kind of glad its the biggest Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. out of them all who has it.... and hopefully he is 100% for the opener so the celts can put all the lebron and shaq talk to rest.

careful...

the flu is tricky, persistent, and unpredictable:

the 1918 pandemic flu:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1918_flu_pandemic
Quote
Scientists have used tissue samples from frozen victims to reproduce the virus for study. Given the strain's extreme virulence there has been controversy regarding the wisdom of such research. Among the conclusions of this research is that the virus kills via a cytokine storm (overreaction of the body's immune system) which explains its unusually severe nature and the concentrated age profile of its victims. The strong immune systems of young adults ravaged the body, whereas the weaker immune systems of children and middle-aged adults caused fewer deaths.[9]

Quote
The 1918 flu pandemic (commonly referred to as the Spanish Flu) was an influenza pandemic that spread to nearly every part of the world. It was caused by an unusually virulent and deadly influenza A virus strain of subtype H1N1.

**wonders if King James (or his teammates) would be wait-listed for the vaccination if it turns out that they have come down with 'swag-flu' >_>**

lets just hope the Cavs don't transmit their disease to the Celtics during their 'lil skirmish on opening day. We know they enjoy 'gettin rowdy' @ Quicken Loans whence hosting a 'big game':

...unfortunatley Kevin Garnett isn't sponsored by Nike and therefore this tape wasn't confiscated/'brushed under the rug' ...

I'm sure it still haunts him to this day.

However, with Rondo becoming a legitimate triple-double threat himself and an improved, healthy line-up the Celtics shouldn't have too much trouble putting the Cavs (sick or healthy) & this horrific memory behind them, en route to what would be their first win of the season.

The best player in the NBA is sick and people are laughing about it...hmm, I just don't get it.  Injuries and sickness to players on other teams don't amuse me at all.  I'd rather have the C's beat these teams at full strength.

Come on, people need to get over themselves.  Making jokes about LEBRON JAMES getting the flu is perfectly acceptable since we know he's going to be fine.  Most of the people that have passed away from this flu were usually weaker than most people, having another infection or being at a vulnerable stage in their health, such as pregnant women.  Lebron James is at an ultimate health fitness level, being physically active and not having any major illness.  I think he'll be fine in a couple of days.
Baby Jesus!

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
That Lebron James is just so trendy.

EDIT: Annnd I just read the rest of the thread. I would just like to say in case my intentions might be mistaken, that I wish no harm upon Lebron James, and I hope he gets over his sickness quickly, and I have nothing but faith that will be the case, and I do think the H1N1 should not be taken lightly.

being a Celtics fan living in ohio - er, Mordor, the 'trendiness' of the Lebron James brand gets old very, very fast ._.

...thankfully I'm not from Cleveland - I hear their economy is 'based on Lebron James', or something...
