I'm going to be buying League Pass Broadband this year, because I can't get the TV version.  But for some reason the Broadband package is $135!  I could swear it was more like 90 last year.  Anyway, they also offer a limited package - get any 7 teams' games for $90.  I'm strongly leaning toward that since I couldn't care less about most of the teams in the league.

Obviously one team will be the C's, so I have 6 more slots to fill.  I thought it'd be fun to put the question to the board - what 6 teams should I pick?  I'm looking for a mix of contending teams and squads that maybe won't win a lot of games but will be fun to watch.  I'm usually up late so West Coast start times aren't a major consideration.  What do you think?

I had NBALP broadband last year.  I think it was $90.  The teams I watched the most are probably Bobcats, Magic, Cavs, Knicks, Bulls, Jazz, Thunder, Lakers.  A good mix of contenders and teams with young players that are fun to watch.

Hmm...

Cavs
Thunder
Heat
Twolves
Lakers (to root against them)
San Antonio

Those would be my six, I think.  I'd want the Thunder and Heat just to watch Durant and Wade.  Portland would also be an interesting team to follow.

(1) Portland
(2) San Antonio

How interested are you in watching the Cavs, Magic or Lakers?

I don't think there are any exciting up and coming teams in the East (Chicago?). Probably have to go to the West with the Thunder. Golden State could be fun. Clippers could be fun if they run but that's not a certainty (risky pick).

New Orleans are a good team to watch too.

A thought to keep in mind here, fwf: You might want to look at ESPN/TNT/ABC's national broadcast schedule before making your selections (though you probably already have a good idea of who will make the most frequent national TV appearances).

While the Celts will be on quite a bit, there's no doubt a need to have access to every game since they are your team.  But is it worth laying off teams like Cleveland or the Lakers since you know you'll see close to a quarter of each of their respective schedules on national TV if you care to watch?

That in mind, teams like OKC and the Clippers really intrigue me.  I think Who is right that in the East, Chicago has one of the more interesting situations for a mid-level team.

And as long as they have Nellie, watching the Warriors will always be fun.

Just my two cents.

Wow, thanks for the quick suggestions!  I think I can rule out the Lakers because most of their important games are on national TV anyway, and they'll probably win ~80-90% of the rest of em - no fun.  I liked New Orleans a lot 2 years ago, but they were downright painful to watch for most of last year.  Chris Paul alone might be worth it though.

I'm getting the same deal with my roommate. He's a sixers fan, so we've got two. I'm thinking:

Celtics
Sixers
T-Wolves
Thunder
Bulls
Heat
Cavs

I like watching young teams and I think Minnesota and the Thunder are on the top of my list.

I just ordered that plan, and am asking myself the same question, if i had to choose right now ive got:
Celtics - Obvious choice
Heat - Cant beat watching Wade
Thunder - gotta get a Durant fix
Trailblazers - Very curious about them
Suns - iffy about it
Hornets - may change this with the spurs
Bulls - My bros team

Im on the fence about the clippers also, just for comedy sake.
I already get all the knicks and nets games on cable living in NY. Also having a hard time not including the Nuggs.

And did Cassell, a man of many words, have anything to say after that?

"No, I told him he needed to wear a tie."

what the..?  I just bought the broadband version 2 days ago and did not see that option.  I'd for sure take that option and save $40!!!  I'll have to see if they can credit me.

So, this was my final list:

Celtics
Nuggets
TWolves
Thunder
Magic
Blazers
Pacers (I think they'll be a surprise team this year)

But I won like a G this week playing poker, so I think I may just say screw it and get the full package.  Thanks for the suggestions, everybody!

Ok I just opened a ticket and requested a change to the "league pass choice" option.  They sent me an email that it'd take 7 to 14 business days.

My choices will be:

Celtics
Lakers
Spurs
Cavs
Mavs
Nuggets
Bulls (my neighbor's fav team)

I live in FL so the Magic games would be blacked out.. no need to select them.

Another thing: you might or might not want to mix in west coast teams. You might not be able to watch a team like the Heat a lot since the Celts/Heat will be playing at the same time on most nights. Also, you might never stay awake for the west coast teams.

I'm kind of glad the tv league pass comes with all teams, but I'd probably go with

1. Celts
2. Thunder - gonna be a blast to watch this year..even when losing...everyone else seems on this page also
3. Magic - gotta have Orlando in case of a race for a playoff seed
4. Cavs - same reason as Orlando
5. Blazers - kinda cool to see a young team morph into a contender and I think this could be the year
6. Clippers - blake griffin and eric gordon...
7. TWolves - flynn, al, gomes, ellington, love, brewer....fun stuff
