I was on espn.com and on their little sidebar on the right side where they have a list of headlines, under the insider area they had a link titled "Is There a Marbury-Pierce rift?"  Does anyone know what thats about?  I dont have insider so I couldnt read the article itself.

Either way I know it's nothing big b/c obviously Marbury isnt with the team anymore, but Im still very curious, especially since we were all under the impression that Steph was on his best behavior here.

Marbury tweeting nonsense.  On the move right now, so I don't have the link, but check Red's Army's posts today for details...

...nothing to worry about.

Quote
Stephon Marbury Wages Twitter War Against Paul Pierce by Jessica Isner on Oct 13, 2009 6:22:58 PM
While he was a part of the Celtics, Stephon Marbury was on his best behavior. No disruptions, no distractions and not much of an impact at all.

Now that he's no longer with the team, though, no need to be diplomatic, right?

Marbury took to his Twitter account to relay some choice statements about former teammate Paul Pierce:

Paul pierce is better than kobe bryant yes or no. Ask him what does he think. You know how I feel about kobe so we won't speak on it. LIL.

(For those of you who need a refresher course: During his 24-hour live chat earlier this year, Marbury declared, "No, I'm not the best player in the NBA. Kobe Bryant is the best player.")

As if that weren't enough, Marbury followed up that statement with this one:

Go tell Doc [Rivers] and Danny [Ainge]  your daddy's that some one you fake truth. Your style is played out number 34. The hood knows your so far gone.

After wading through the confounding punctuation and grammatical errors, it seems that Marbury only wants to say one thing: He is not a fan of Paul Pierce. At least he kept those sentiments quiet while he actually had a job in the league.

To this point, Pierce has yet to retaliate via his own Twitter account.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I don't believe Pierce will retaliate via Twitter...he won't stoop that low.  I actually wanted Marbury back this year, but after all his asinine antics with Twitter/live streaming, forget it.  Hopefully he can find a job in the league this yr or next, but  the man needs mental help.

As for all the "keeping it real" or "staying true to the hood"...give me a break...Pierce grew up in Inglewood and made something of himself, he doesn't have to keep it "hood" or whatever that is...stealing cars, selling drugs, dropping the N word every other sentence, or claim he's "real".  He is a professional basketball player...keyword "professional"   all that stuff about keeping it hood is retarded...Marbury needs to grow up.

coming from some1 who did marbury tv and did things like eat vasaline for attention/publicity......this clearly screams that marbury wants to be in the news.  he isnt playing ball and preseason is in full swing.....he might be doing this for publicity in a pathetic attempt to tell gm's, "dont forget about me, no matter how crazy i am".  very pathetic!

With that being said if it is true Starbury is dissing Pierce I think it is wack.  Nobody should dis Pierce.  Whether he is the greatest player in the world or not, one thing is for sure, he is one of the most realest athletes in the game today.   He doesn't do anything stupid, he doesn't try to hog the spotlight.  He deserves respect and he speaks the truth. He has been on this team for 12 years no one should have anything to say about him unless it is positive.  And that stuff about him not being hood is bogus.

In 12 years of watching Paul I've never seen him do anything wrong on the court as far as how he handles himself.  Kobe acts like a baby at least once every couple of games.  Last year against the Spurs @SA, Lakers lost the lead late and Kobe goes over to the sideline and slaps the towel out of the hand of the towel boy.  Celtics players don't do that.

Do those 12 years include the latter portion of the fourth quarter of Game 6 of the 2005 playoffs against Indy?

I'm right there as a Pierce devotee, but part of what I've really come to appreciate about him over the past few years is how much he has changed as a player and leader from what he was at times earlier in his career.  Let's not pretend he was infallible.

On that play Tinsley was all in Pierce's face after the whistle, and Paul lightly used his arm to move Jamal off of him.  Tinsley should have won the Acadamey Award it was a total acting job.   No player falls from a play like that it was an act.   It was only a bad play because it was late in an important Game 6.   It wasn't a bad behavior play, it was a bad basketball play, only because of how Tinsley pulled off the acting job.
Every player changes from a rookie to a 12 year vet, Paul has always been a class act.  This is a guy who grew up in LA as a Laker fan, got signed by Boston and stuck it out there for his entire hall of famer, championship(s) winning career.  He didn't act like a little baby and complain to get back to his hometown.   He should always be respected for that.

Come on now, im one of the biggest paul boosters around, he is the reason i became a basketball fan when he was drafted when i was 15. He is the heart and soul of this team.

But that was an immature play and an immature pouting session afterwords. It was embarrassingly uncomfortable at the time for the club and for paul.

It was part of paul growing from a young kid into the mature leader and celtic legend he is today, but let's not engage in revisionist history. He was being a jerk.

Steve is right, I love paul because of the journey he's taken to get to where he is today. It's why him accepting the Finals MVP trophy is my favorite moment from that whole season, but I'm not going to pretend thier are no rough edges to paul's legend.

They were, and to his never ending credit, he dealt with them like a man and now is the shining example of how you should conduct yourself as a NBA superstar. To pretend he's never had issues is to deny what makes him so unique and real as a player.
