I wish, but it won't happen.  He's the kind of guy that will take a discount to stay in minnesota.  He'll be a twin for life I think.  One thing you can put next to his name though is 2009 MVP.  He should get every single first place vote.  He had that good of a year.  He's the best hitter in the game right now plain and simple.

And, as much as a I love Mauer's game and the thought of him in a Sox uniform, I have a difficult time seeing it. To echo what has already been said, it is my understanding that Mauer loves nothing more than the simple life that he lives in Minnesota, where he is already about as beloved as any figure in the state.
...then again when someone offers him $250 million in free agency, all bets are off.

I understand that he may not squeeze every penny out of free agency, but one thing the guy cares about more than remaining in Minny from what I have read is championships. Unless they build a real contender around him, he'll be gone. And there is no doubt in my mind.

Of course if the Twins spend some money or have a perfect storm of player development a la Tampa Bay 2008, he could stay.

I think they are building around him.  They have some nice young players.  Denard Span, Delmon Young, Alexi Casilla.  Just need to give them some time.  Kevin Slowey and Justin Morneau going down really hurt em.  Both would have helped quite a bit against the Yanks.

It should be mauer, but it wouldn't shock me to see derek get a "lifetime achievement" award.

The NY media has been pretty vocal about it's feeling that derek should win, despite all evidence to the contrary. I mean, he's not even the best candidate on his own team, tex is.

So to some it up, i think mauer will get it, but it wouldn't shock me to see derek swing a "kobe" level reward behind the voting of the NYC media.
