Did not see the Houston game. These are my impressions of tonight's game vs. Knicks:

1.  Sheed is going to be an awesome 3 point option for us. Better than Posey.
2.  We are going to go some decent offense from Perk. Expect his scoring average to go up a couple of points.
3. Lester Hudson is going to be our back up PG. I know he did not play much tonight, but you can just see it in his game. Reminds me a Dee Brown a bit as a rook (is it the mohawk??)
4.  Rondo seems to be on auto-pilot right now, won't turn it up until season starts. At first I thought his added weight may have slowed him down, then I knew better after watching an explosive move.
5. Ray is in great shape, and seems to have worked on his handle.
6. Pierce is in auto-pilot.
7.  Baby hasn't figured out his role yet.
8.  Landlord looks lost.
9.  Tony Allen is playing for his NBA life.  I think he may get as many minutes as Daniels, provided he is healthy.
10. We need to establish more of an inside game. Perk alone is not sufficient.  Loss of Powe will be felt. LL not the answer. And KG and Sheed are old dogs not capable of suddenly posting alot. Not gonna happen.
11.  Daniels seems too tentative.  I expected more of a slashing game from him.

Great post (TP) ... only thing I would add would be that Rondo needs to drive to the hoop more often, but as you say, he really hasn't shown up yet. I'm also not sure about Hudson as back-up PG ... I think they'll still opt to go to Eddie or Daniels until Hudson proves himself more ... he seems very tentative to me.

-We still can't make free throws.
-Our defense is still real good, though
-We still turn the ball over kind of a lot. Tonight wasn't bad, but our turnovers have been on the high side for a while now.

Also, I don't think people need to worry about Rondo. It's the pre-season, and like in past years he doesn't care much. I don't know if that's the right attitude to have, but it's true that nothing matters at this point.

Sheed is better than Posey, but I think Posey is a better shooter from 3. But Sheed can do a lot more.

For the benefit of those without our good fortune. Cs played pretty well offensively for about 2/3rds of the game. Defense was consistently good.

- KG looked very good. He is at 85-90%, but his shot is fluid and there is no hint of a knee problem when he lands. It will take him a while to get to 100% as he has conditioning issues that should be expected.

- RA missed 3 FTs. He missed 12 last year.

- I noted in game 1 that Perk looks like he might have taken his offensive game to a new level. His turn-around shot is much smoother now because he's more agile going into the shot. This could be an unexpected upgrade from any expectation I had before the 1st pre-season game. Perk looks like he's quicker to rebounds too.

- 2nd game in a row where RR was not on his game. Got into foul trouble and was never a factor.

- PP forced a bunch of bad shots and was one of the problems when the offense went south after a great start. He looks in good shape though and made one of his patented step back shots later, which led me to believe it was just not his night.

- RW will be Bill Walton this year and our bench is the best since 2008. Looks like 6th man of the year candidate. Game is very similar to KG, but has 3 pt range and is not quite the DPOY candidate that KG is.

- I don't hate or support TA. TA was a disaster and I'm not sure why Doc played him at all after saying before the game that he wouldn't. He was tentative and rash and he looked like he was hampered by his injury. Given his confidence issues, Doc didn't due him or the team any favors playing him.

- Daniels was a little less successful this game than last, because it looked like the 2nd unit is still unsure of its offense and he didn't go as much to the basket. He can play good defense and is sneaky active like Rondo. Can't shoot beyond mid-range and Doc has to get that message through. Has a nice soft shot around the basket unlike RR. I think Daniels is going to be a big addition to the bench and is going to cost the Cs more money next year as a FA. I'd say he has a better handle than Eddie House and better PG instincts. I'd have to agree that he could handle PG duties and cover for a Rondo injury in a pinch.

- Eddie was Eddie. I think he's going to be helped by having Daniels around, but for fantasy purposes it's a push as the Cs can go elsewhere if Eddie's having a bad night.

- Scal played well and did a decent job on the Knicks big SF. Maybe Doc is onto something.

- Lester impressed me again. Very aware defensively. Aggressive offensively. Think Pruitt in Bizarro World.  I think he sticks and I thought it telling that he was in well before Giddens and Sweetney.

- BBD is slimmer and appears more mobile. Seems to be rebounding better. Can't tell about his half-court defense since Knicks are run and gun.

- Sweetney showed some nice instincts around the basket; Tommy went out on a limb and said that he thought he would make the team because of his bulk. Tommy also compared his low post game to AJ and Kevin. I was taken aback by this, but he did have one very pretty low-post move in this game too.

- Sheldon is pretty much as advertised. Rebounds and defends. Can't shoot from 5 feet in. I think he stays and works with Coach Ray.

- Giddens - He was OK unlike game 1.

Like last game, this team seems like a lock for 60+. Number 1 story is KG is fine, # 2 is 2nd unit looked good, #3 Perk may have taken another step forward.

Knick fan alert: Hill can play. I was surprised that he didn’t see more action because he looked good offensively when he did. Is green on defense though. Otherwise, your team had an off night shooting and couldn’t hit contested or open shots except for about a quarter.

I loved Bill Walton but Rasheed is a big step up from Bill.  By the time Walton got to us he was playing on 1 leg or 2 really bad ones.
My off the top of head thoughts:
Giddens, he's gone some way, hopefully danny makes his contract work towards getting something better.  He has shown me so far he IS NOT an nba player.
Perk I'm really impressed with, have to take into consideration his plantar issues might have made his footwork really bad and maybe health and his lighter body are going to be key
Daniels great pick up, he's going to erase memories of giddens, tony and pruitt is one shot
tony  ???  he's got to be part of a trade because of his contract, besides that I can't see many teams wanting him
Hudson doesn't show me anything either way, if there is a roster spot open keep him
scal did a nice job, think he'll earn those minutes if he can play like he did
Williams I would like to have for the future, he can give us 5 minutes a game here and there play good d and rebound then great, think he's worth trying to develop (remember perks offense his first couple years)
Eddie looks great, very important to our team and good mix with daniels
sweetney...I'd rather keep williams if it was done to the 2, kinda like hudson if there is a spot open keep him if not drop him
No thoughts on starters (except perk) they all have what it takes and its only preseason

Footey I gave you your 100th TP. I agree with everything you said but, TA is trash and is not going to play equal min to Daniels. I wouldn't be suprised is TA even gets cut. However, I think he will be traded during the season because of his contract.

Sorry, but Bill Walton was the 6th man of the year in 86 and a stud! I like Rasheed but I will be very pleasantly surprised if he is anywhere close to the player Walton was on the 86 team.

I'll be surprised if Wallace isn't 6th man of the year for us.  I know Walton's game very very well but he was a shadow of himself when we got him.  Wallace is a year removed from all star and still has lots left in tank.  If we loose perk or kg  :'(  he can step into starting role and be great for us.  Bill could start but only for a bit before injuries would sideline him.

I have stated in different posts just how great I thought Walton was so I'm not knocking him.
Think 'sheed can average 8 ppg and 7 rbs for us in 20 minutes?

Yeah

Walton and Sheed are apples and oranges.  Never mind the stats.  They both bring/brought very different stuff to the table for their respective teams.
Yup

apples & oranges very much so, bill was the greatest passing center of all time, imo best outlet passes off rebounds since russell oh i can go on
sheed spreads the floor much better

the stats i put down because that is what walton average when he was 6th man of year in 86
granted he did much more than that but those numbers are well within reach for wallace
