Do NBA players practice the 60 footer?
Mo and Lebron do and sometimes it works for them.

Did anybody hit homeruns like they do now before Babe Ruth? No.

So just because people don't do it doesn't mean it can't be done.

That is what they must have said in 1915.   Trying to hit a home run everytime up that must be silly.  No way anyone can hit more than 30 in a season.
That is when the Babe steps in.

Please dont attempt to water down the argument with examples that dont apply
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

But Lebron doesnt forgo a layup for a 60 footer.  Thats the point.

If the layup has a 0 chance of going in because Manute Bol is right there to block it and the 60 footer is his only chance to score than maybe he does.

Once the Babe came in though people started to hit power numbers like Foxx and Greenberg.  Its because of the Babe.  Because he did what nobody else was trying to do.

That is what Thomas should have done.
That is what I would do.
Try and do something that hasn't been done.
Otherwise its season over, might as well give it a try and go out in a blaze of glory.

I would rather try a play that has a chance of working.  They play you are describing has 0 chance of working.

"They play you are describing has 0 chance of working."

How do you know?
Name 1 example where somebody tried it.

So I guess you've never heard a sportscaster say "In my 35 years in the booth, I have never seen anything like that."

Although it is rare, stuff like that happens.  There are plenty of examples of plays in sports that nobody can describe because it never happened before.

Would you give Franco Harris a 0 percent chance against the Raiders in 1972?

Name one player to climb a wall like Bo Jackson did, before 1989.

Umm ok, I have seen infielders boot slow grounders trying to barehand it, so I can only imagine an outfielder not used to handling it would have a much higher degree of success fielding a fast grounder after overrunning it and turning his body

Franco Harris' play wasn't premediated.  I bet he'd even say that he was lucky in that he was in the right place at the right time.  He caught a deflection and took it to the house.  RB's usually try and do that when carrying a football.

You're asking an outfielder to attempt an unorthodox play that has nearly a zero percent chance of working and I'm willing to bet he doesn't practice at all because you're not taught to do that as an outfielder.

You're throwing out random sports plays and seeing if anything sticks.  That doesn't make an arguement.

Do you still think you throw the guy out 1/10 times?

They are not random sports plays.  They are plays that before they happened nobody thought were possible.  And when they did happen people were like "Wow, I've never even seen that play before"
If outfielders don't practice that play, they should give it a try.
Becuase it is the only chance to throw a runner out in that situation.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
..ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

Why would a Wookiee, an eight-foot tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of two-foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense!

Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, [approaches and softens] does it make sense? No!

Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests!
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

The Chewbacca thing makes no sense.   Chewbacca doesn't play right field.

Don't mean to go off topic here but don't underestimate what I know about sports.
Here is an example.  My college roommate beat me 52-0 once in Gameday95.  I said one more game, if I lose I quit.    With 53 seconds left, he hit the reset button in frustration.  Why? Because I was up 67-14 and he thought I was going for an onside kick.  I still had 3 timeouts left and I was up by 53 points and wanted to win by 60. 53 is 1 more than 52.  True Story.
