Fanpost about it

From BDL http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Cavaliers-are-a-confident-bunch-print-NBA-Final?urn=nba,194329

The Cleveland Cavaliers have printed off 4 (a home series no less!) NBA Finals tickets to issue with their season ticket package.

Here is a picture:

What are these guys thinking? This is Cleveland we're talking about!

Yeah, it's like what the Celtics do - exploit an interest-free loan from their season ticket holders.

At least the Celtics only try to do this a few weeks in advance of the playoffs.
God bless and good night!

Do they already know the dates?

My guess is if they are anything like most organizations, the only thing the ticket really states is Game N and all the pertinent info is TBA.

This reminds me of the Boston Red Sox painting the field at Fenway before Game 7 against the Yankees in 2003.  ugh.

Or worse, Bob Kraft trademarking 19-0 before the Superbowl. ugh.

Good luck Cavs.  You're gonna need it.

I wonder if the celtics do the same thing? Would we have any way of knowing?

Wait did Stern tell them they're winning it all this year and they leaked it by accident?

Read the OP, and read what I said above.

This was done on purpose, so they can charge people up front and receive an interest free loan from their fanbase.

Most franchises do it (including the Celtics)
God bless and good night!

Not exactly.

The Celtics season ticket package comes with two preseason game tickets and 41 tickets for regular home games.

Here's where the interest-free loan comes in.

Shortly after the team locks in a playoff spot (but not before), they send out a full set of playoff tickets for all four rounds, and they bill as if every game in every round will be played.  If each round goes less than seven, and/or the team is eliminated, the organization DOES hold on to the money for the unused tickets and applies it to the next year's bill, or they will issue a refund on request.

Interestingly enough, I've seen some people criticize us for hanging the empty banner, saying we're doing the same thing.  See here and here.

I think it's a ridiculous argument.

I said this already..  I really don't see how this is a big deal.

In fact, if Cleveland's front office can pull this off and actually charge people well in advance, they're doing a good job from a financial perspective.
God bless and good night!
