He gets amped up for games against [elite pg's]. I think he'll play passively against lesser competition.

This is Rondo's biggest set back. I think if he can go at every PG in the league the way he goes against Rose and Nash, then he can be one of the best points in the game.

If Rondo can reach his potential then he's in that class of perfect all around PG's

  • Rondo = Good

I think you meant 10 assists and 5 rebounds, not the other way around

11 assists are a little high and 17 PPG might be pushing it with all of the other scorers we have on the team however I do expect a nice jump in his numbers.

You expect a jump in numbers, but those numbers are too high?

Last year he avg'd 12pts, 8ast, 5reb. So this is estimating he pushes the ball more aggressively and drives the open lanes when they show themselves, if he does that he'll get to the FT line (and average jump shooters are average FT shooters). I think Rondo could easily bump his points up 5 per game. As for assists he'll now have Rasheed in there for Perk in key situations, theres your bump in numbers.

I think he is capable but I don't think you are looking at the overall picture.   Rondo averaged 16.9 PPG 9.8 APG and 9.7 RPG in the playoffs.   However he also averaged 41.2 MPG in the playoffs and we were missing 2 big scoring guns.  I don't see him getting that many minutes in the regular season.  Somewhere in the 35, 36, 37 range.   Also he forced a ton of shots in the playoffs shooting .417 while shooting .505 in the regular season.  Not having KG and Powe along with Chicago playing horrible defense on him his numbers might have been inflated somewhat so it might not be the norm for this regular season.

Now with KG back getting roughly 15 to 20 PPG with the additions of Daniels and Wallace totaling roughly 25 PPG last year combined with the improved play of BBD and Perk it's hard for me to say Rondo will have a big spike in numbers even though I know he is capable.  So yes I expect him to improve and get better but 17 and 11 might be pushing it unless if we have a significant injury in 1 area or our overall team offense is that much better.    Maybe it will be something like Ray and Paul average a combined 5 PPG less and Rondo has the 5 point spike.  Who knows.  I want to see our team first in preseason before I start thinking of projected numbers.

I think part of Rondo's increase in scoring numbers will be facilitated by a decrease in Paul and Ray's scoring.  They're older and probably (hopefully) won't be quite as intense throughout the regular season (saving themselves for playoffs) so Rondo will be able to pick up that slack.

Hmmm... I wouldn't go that far to say he could be on the same level as those names!

11 points 4 rebounds 8 assists 2 steals per game, that's it, no all-star

He averaged 5 rebounds last year, so it's unlikely he'll average less than that.

I think 15 pts 10 assists and 5 rebounds is within reach for Rondo if he makes anywhere close to the "jump" that people are talking about.  The last two years he averaged 14 pts per 40 minutes and last year averaged 10 asts per 40 minutes.  Like I said, he already has 5 rebounds per game.  He's also good for 2 steals a game.

I think Rondo making All-Star will be more about recognition than anything else; after his amazing series against the Bulls this spring, I don't doubt that people will be paying attention to him.

yeah he avg that last year, but without KG, now KG is back, we got Sheed and Daniels too, and we got Pierce and Allen too, do you think that he can increase his stats with all these guys, I don't think so, his game will develop with no doubt, I want him to make some consistant jumpshot and less turnovers, that's it, I don't expect him to drop 15-17p. 5-6r. above 10a. above 2s. no I don't think I'll see him in the all-star either, we can't have 4 guys there you know that, since KG, P2, R20 are here, he can't play there, he can't beat them to go there even if he drop 20/8/12/4, because they do it for years, maybe next year, when probably Ray Allen days as a Celt are over, maybe he'll get a shot at it, but now, I just can't see it

He averaged 14 points per 40 minutes the last two years, even when KG wasn't out with an injury.  So if he actually makes a "jump" in ability like people are saying, it's not unreasonable to think his per-40 numbers will increase by 4-5, which would easily net him at least 15 ppg.  As for assists, it's pretty easy to see how a point guard could get a lot of assists on this team, and our team adding more offensive firepower to the bench can only help that.  I think 10 asts per game is well within Rondo's reach - again, assuming he makes any kind of a "jump" as people have implied.

I say by the end of the playoffs there will be a lot more debate about who the best player on this team is and Rondo's name will be mentioned as much as anyone's.

early in the season he will be averaging a triple double, then slow down a bit and only average a double double.

Just think about it like this... if he just makes an open jump shot a game, and can improve his FT shooting thats like 2-4 points per game.
