Way, way too many personalities and egos.  Iverson, Randolph, and Mayo?  Plus you've got a talented guy like Gay competing for shots?

32 wins.

Thats an improvement.

Sometimes a teams improvement isn't in the W/L but its in the way they play against the good teams. When Boston was bad we were in some games till the end, just didn't know how to come away with the win. I think this team will compete, last years was a joke.

For some reason, I watched them a lot last year. ???

While this year's Grizz will be "better" and win more games, the route to eventually becoming good was to continue sucking for another year or two: get the young guys minutes; seperate the wheat from the chaff; get top lotto picks.  Having Z-Bo and AI is the road to never actually getting good.

Yeah.  Right now what Memphis needs to do is not "get better," but to allow their players to develop and continue sucking so they get more lottery picks....getting ZR and AI is actually counter to the best interests of the team.  The only reason they did it was to increase ticket sales.  Say what you want about how this is probably bad for the future of the team and will end up horribly - the Memphis Grizzlies are suddenly a much more interesting team to watch.

Exactly the case.  Really the same position the Celtics were in a few years ago, when the impatient were screaming for Danny to cash in prematurely.  Better to get more young talent, develop some value in them, and eventually cash in, but to go the vet route before stockpiling enough talent is the road to perpetual mediocrity or worse.  Really thankful Danny did not succumb to the enormous pressure of a few years ago.

I know Gasol is their current starter, but I am kind of excited to see what Thabeet will do out there. With all of these wacky shots going up, he should be able to get some offensive rebounds and score quite a bit.

In all honesty, they could be a tough match up if you hit them on a good night, but they really lack veteran leadership...

Eh, Thabeet is really raw on the offensive end...I'll be surprised if he averages more than 4-5 pts per game.  His field goal percentage will probably be pretty low too.

I was half-kidding about Thabeet, but if they were smart, they would give him some playing time. They aren't going to make the playoffs and he won't need shots on the offensive end, so he can focus on his defense (which is really good).
