Let's assume KG is injured for the playoffs, and his role is taken over by Rasheed Wallace. Can the Celtics still win the NBA title? I think the Celtics would still have a legitimate chance of making it to the finals.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
2nd round for sure, ECF at best.

2nd round ... tough to beat Orlando or Cleveland without KG.

If they had the first seed and were (where? meh!) playing Atlanta or Washington in the second round, then they could go to the Conference Finals. But they don't get the first seed without KG playing nearly all of the season, the third seed yes, but not the first.

Of course they can. With a depleted team last year we were on the verge of making it to the Conference Finals. We have all-round better talent and better depth than last year, we're fully capable of going all the way. Not going to be easy, but quite doable.

ECF. We can beat Orlando without KG. It would be tough, but we took it to 7 games last year and with the addition of Sheed and hopefully improvement in Rondo's jumpshot, we could come on top. Orlando improved too, but the fact that we can neutralize their best player so much with Perk/Sheed will give us a good chance. But hopefully we don't have to see that and KG and everyone else is healthy.

That depends greatly on the rest of our team.  If our guys pick up the slack it's possible we can win the finals.  It was possible last year.  We certainly have enough talent.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

A more interesting question is how far could they go if Rondo goes down.  They have decent players to replace KG in the starting lineup (Sheed, Baby).  If Rondo gets hurt, they have no one.

Except that we would've beaten Orlando last year without KG if we had Wallace and Daniels.

I think we could beat Orlando without KG.  I think Orlando is going to be worse than last year.  Maybe they could take the Cavs.  I don't see the Lakers happening though unless KG is there.

Agreed, we get to the ECF unless we have any other major injuries.

EFC, at least. It all depends on how well the Shaq and Artest experiments work out in Cleveland and LA... Could be scary good, could implode. Who knows?

No doubt we get by Orlando, though. Rasheed and Perk make Howard look like Clark Kent, Carter is going to be a bad fit and I think Rondo would destroy Jameer.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
With Scal on board, we could win even with Blount. ;D ;D
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

Actually, a while back didn't the Magic have at least a little interest in our old pal? I hope he gets bought out and signs in Orlando. That's like a free pass right there  :D

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
If we face orlando on EC semis, we make ECF and lose to cle.
If we face cleveland on EC semis, we end there.
If we face orlando in EC semis and Cle isnt there we reach finals.
If lakers are in finals and they have homecourt we lose
If lakers are in finals and we have homecourt we win

IMHO.
