I'd rather see Tony over Walker and Giddens any day of the week.

Congrats. You're the only one.
I shouldn't be.
A good fan actually hopes their players do well.

The thing is, we're all really hoping Giddens and Walker do well, and we're kind of tired of Tony-turnover-machine-with-constant-injuries Allen
But it's pre-season so who cares?  I'm anxious to know if he has overcome his injuries and can go back to being a half-way decent backup.

It would've been ideal to check him out in the pre-season.  If we have to wait until regular season games to see where he's at then he's gonna be a risk while he's in the game.

The problem with Tony is that he's really still a rookie. He's been hurt every offseason since he was drafted. Torn ACL running from the police, Torn ACL midseason after trying a stupid dunk, messed up ankle this year.

The point I'm trying to make is that he hasn't had any time in any of his offseasons to work on his game.. There's no such thing as coming back from something that wasn't there in the first place. Not to meantion how fragile his mentality is.

Take Walker, for example.. Strong dude both mentally and physically. Same injuries over his career (HS and college) that TA had, yet he still isn't afraid to dunk on anyone. The same can't be said for Allen.

Wow, you can't say that Tony's still a rookie, you just can't.  I don't care about the injuries; Tony's had some bad luck, but the reason he hasn't gotten one iota better since the day he was drafted is entirely mental.  Cripes, there's no more excuses for him, he's making rookie mistakes going into his SIXTH season!

And, even with all the time he's lost due to injuries, he's still played in 282 games (equivalent to 3 1/2 seasons) and averaged almost 19 minutes/game.

There's absolutely, positively, no reason for Tony Allen to still play like a rookie at this point, none whatsoever.

No, you can call Tony a rookie because he pretty much is... And I don't mean that in a "Oh he's got potential" way. By no means was I making excuses for him. He plays like a rookie, no excuses for that like you said. I think you misunderstood what I was trying to get at.

I guess I did, because I don't get your point.  He's had injuries but still been on the court for the equivalent of almost four seasons.  What's rookie-like about that?

I think lon3lytoaster is basically saying that Tony Allen plays as poorly as a rookie plays.
Celtics fan for life.

This and that he hasn't had the off-season to really work on his game. There isn't a lot of time during the season to actually work on your game, and that's where most of the improving actually happens.
