Last year we were close to a 60 win pace in the games without KG. I don't see where the drop is going to come from.
Our point differential was more consistent with a 50 win team though, if we expect to win 60 we need KG.

When KG was out our primary backup was Mikki Moore. I believe Leon was down for most of KG's injury, as well. This time instead of Mikki we have Rasheed. I see zero reason why this team wouldn't win over 60 even if KG was used sparingly.

I will pay everyone on this blog 1$ if we win less than 55 games.
God bless and good night!

Hollinger is all about statistics.  He evaluates basketball the same way space engineers develop satellites.  ESPN should shift him over to the MLB portion of their site.  Mainly because while these stats and evaluations are fun and may raise an eyebrow every once in a while, it's certainly not the best way to evaulate basketball players and teams.

With that said, barring major injuries, I'd be shocked if they only finished with 54 wins.  But, it really doesn't matter because come playoff time, they will not be stopped.

50, 60, who cares?  I just want one win-- in the very last game they play this year.
Nicely put.

Bet the house on the over 54 wins if you can find it anywhere. Vegas has Cs at 5-1 behind Fakers and Cleveland for the championship, so I doubt they'd subsidize your new 2nd residence.

John Hollinger is the illegitimate child of a 3 some consisting of a math geek, the internets, and the NBA.

The fact that he is still employed mind bottling.

I predict John Hollinger will get under half his predictions right, but will only remember the correct ones when next year rolls around.

Careful what you wish for...There is a situation where this can happen and we do not win the Championship.  Of course I really doubt that situation would happen.

I like many of the Hollinger stats that he brings out, I think his theories have a lot of merit. I just really disagree with his personal assesment of what the numbers actually mean.

Anyways:

Quote
While the Celtics can lament the late injuries to Garnett, Tony Allen and Leon Powe -- subtractions that all but ended their title defense before the playoffs even began -- they were one of the league's healthiest teams for most of the regular season. Pierce, Ray Allen, Rondo and Perkins missed only two games between them, and reserves Powe, House and Glen Davis stayed healthy the entire regular season, as well.

I'm still scratching my head.

I know I know.  I thought about pointing this out, but didn't want to jinx us all.

You mean the fact that he doesn't really know anything about basketball and thinks his finely tuned equations are all he needs to back his opinions?

I agree.

I think he knows an awful lot about basketball, but hyperbole is fun!

Just because you don't agree with him, doesn't mean he knows nothing.

That is a weird statement. Any time your team loses its best player, and even worse its best big man you have serious injury issues.

It would only be hyperbole if you valued his opinion.

You can think he knows something about basketball all you want.

So if the Lakers lose Kobe in the middle of the season but nobody else misses a game all year, Hollinger will write that the Lakers were one of the healthiest teams in the league and they can expect to win 48 games next year?  Right?  Right?
