I think it might be a bit ridiculous to include teams in this poll that just aren't expected to be any good. Memphis, Golden State, Sacramento, LA Clippers or Indiana. They aren't supposed to be that good, as a matter of fact they are probably 5 of the worst 8 teams in the league. A meltdown can't happen if an implosion is already expected.

Now, if by meltdown you mean there will be drama and histrionics and player confrontations and outbursts, yeah, there could be that stuff at some of those places, but isn't that to be expected?

I think Orlando is probably the leader in the chances for a meltdown as a good team blowing up to become something less. We have already seen Howard go sour and level stuff at his coach. We have seen Van Gundy go out and blame everybody for his shortcomings as a coach except himself. And now, they have made the quintessential David Stern era superstar, a superstar that is flashy and scores a lot and is marketable but doesn't have a clue as to how to be a winner, namely Vince Carter, their big off season addition. Carter is a born chemistry killer and his addition moves Lewis out of the PF slot where he was such a great mismatch. SFs across the league will have no problem guarding Lewis.

I also can't believe no one has mention Houston. Tracy is coming back to a team  that went deep in the playoffs without him and for part of the playoffs, Yao. Now he comes back from yet another injury and needs to prove to the NBA that he is still worth max deal money. What happens when the core of Rockets that got the team so far last year starts seeing losses because TMac can't and won't play defense or play unselfish team offense. I see major meltdown happening in Houston.

I hope its the Lakers.
I suspect it might be Denver (a team not on the list).  With Melo and KMart, you never know...

I think the Warriors have a chance to be good or horribly bad.

This is an easy one, that is why I voted for "other".   Answer-Cavs.

The Lakers, of course! (Actually, that's just a hopeful fantasy I have). But seriously, I think it will be the Suns ... too much opportunity for major changes there that will just cause them to fall apart ... possibly the Heat as well.

I would have added Cavs if I'd done the poll after DWest got arrrested, at the moment they definently could be a chance.

I don't think anyone is expecting TMac or Yao to comeback anytime soon though. The Rockets have already Burnt Out (gotta love a good space pun!). Their season was lost last season.

I also think you can see a bad team meltdown. GSW for example was going to be a fun team to watch this season, especially with Monta playing with Curry. Then out of the blue, Cap'n Jack demands a trade, Monta says he can't play with Curry. What a way to destroy your Chemistry.

I agree with the fact that meltdown can only apply to teams that are actually expected to make the playoffs.

I'd also exclude Detroit since on paper I really don't think they look to make the playoffs anyway.

My gut says Utah. The Boozer situation might cause some locker room tension that won't make people happy. And the injury bug always seems to hit them more than anyone else

I just said Detroit simply because of where they were 3 years ago and what has happened in the last 2 seasons.  That ship seems to be going down, down, down.  It's a slow sinker, but it's sinking nonetheless.

It sure as hell won't be the Lakers, and some teams can't really meltdown ya know. Cavs if Shaq doesn't
work out but I doubt it. Magic from all the big teams are most likely to drop off. Mavs?

What exactly would the bobcats be melting down to? I think they would have to only win about 12 games for it to be considered a meltdown. They traded away their best player and had a mediocre team to begin with.

I'm going with Cavs, Shaq's ego & LeBron together on the same team?  Cleveland will not be as good this season, and everyone will be pointing the finger at everyone else.

Toronto.

They have high expectations pinned on a vastly over-rated, alergic to defense roster.

Now that Calderon's healthy, they'll get a full season of his seive-like D from the pg position.
Throw in a post-contract year flatline from Hedu, the signature Chris Bosh crunch time no-show, and the fact they're depending on Rasho & Bargnani to hold down the 5; and you've got the makings of another horrible year up north.

They could very well be a top-5 lotto team, but right now the fanbase thinks they'll contend.  That could get real ugly......

I disagree I think they'll be the 2nd best team in the Atlantic this year behind us.  I could see them around 42-48 wins if they stay healthy.
