Yesterday I had an interesting conversation with one of my friends. I had always thought of him as a die hard Sox fan, until I realized for once he wasn't wearing a Sox hat. Thankfully, it wasn't a Yankees hat, but it was a Phillies hat.

He explained that he thought it was perfectly alright to support one team from each league. To me, this has anyways gone against an unwritten law of Sports Morality. Kind of like having two religions if you ask me.

This isn't to say I don't support players from other teams, or whatever but fully supporting two teams in one league (Or in this case, one from the AL and one team from the NL) has always just seemed taboo to me.

Anywhoo, I guess I'm confused now. Kind of like a man being born in a woman's body or something. Is anyone here a fan of two teams?

I'm a diehard Red Sox fan (tattooed) but i support The Dodgers. Note that i don't wear any Dodger blue, i think i just like them becuase i hate the Angels so much.

I'm also a Pats fan, and a Vikings fan.

No such thing in Hockey/Basketball

I'm a Bruins fan first and foremost, but I've always enjoyed watching the Red Wings, and I root for them whenever they're not playing the Bs.

Since I live outside of Philadelphia, I passively support the Phillies (meaning I'll root for them in the playoffs over any team other than the Sox, and will go to the occasional game).

I think "sports bigamy" is okay, so long as: 1) you have a "primary" team who you always support first, and 2) your "secondary" team is in a difference conference / league.

I mean, obviously the Celtics are my team, but I'd wear a blazers or rockets hat with pride once and a while..if they're not playing the green those are my guys. Kinda the same thing

I think it could work out in a sport I don't care about quite as much. As far as basketball, football, and baseball go, I couldn't root for anybody except the Celtics, Pats, and Sox. But, in hockey, while I like the Bruins, I also kind of like the Canadiens. I know this is a big no-no, as these teams are huge rivals, but I am a huge fan of the city of Montreal, in general, and whenever I get up there, I see how well they support their team. It is really the only team out of all major sports that is in a non-English speaking city/province, too- which is kind of neat...

I have three jerseys of non-Celtic players. Dennis Rodman (Bulls), rookie season AI, and a Washington Bullets Sheed jersey. All of those were given to me, and they stay on the wall.

It probably is just me, but I always feel so dirty not wearing Celtics or Sox colors (Can't say I'm a huge Pats fans, I don't own any Bruins gear either) It's kind of like, I wouldn't want any of our players wearing those other jersey (Except Tony Allen) so I can't bring myself to wear one, either.

In MLB, I like the Red Sox and Mets. In the NBA, I like the Celtics and Mavericks as my top 2 teams, but i also like watching CP3, D-Will, B-Roy, Kevin Durant, Danny Granger, Kevin Martin and Devin Harris play. In football, i like the Pats, but i also like seeing Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Peterson, Frank Gore, and Steven Jackson play. As for hockey, well....i hate hockey, so it's whatever. lol

NBA:
1. Boston Celtics
2. Phoenix Suns (Only because of Steve Nash... and once he retires I have a feeling my second favorite team will be whatever team Ricky Rubio plays for.)

MLB:
1. Boston Red Sox
2. None (In the past I did like the Seattle Mariners when they had the young Ken Griffey Jr.)

NFL:
1. New England Patriots
2. Cincinatti Bengals (Love watching Chad Ochocinco play)

NHL:
1. Boston Bruins
2. Detroit Red Wings (This is weird, I really hate them, but they are fun to watch, one of the best examples of a team I can think of.)

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
NBA:
1. Celtics
2. Pacers (have to support the local team.  Plus tickets are dirt cheap)

NHL:
1. Penguins
1a. Bruins (Spent too much time in Pittsburgh and saw what that team/Mario Lemieux was willing to do to keep its fans.  It inched them ahead of a Bruins squad that doesn't seem to care about its fanbase)

MLB:
1. Red Sox
1a. Pirates (One of these two teams gives me the ability to sit directly behind the dugout for $5, have $1 hot dogs, and I never have to deal with an obnoxious girl wearing a pink Pirates hat).

NFL:
1. Patriots
2. Bears (No attachment to the team, I just happen to be friends with a few guys who are playing for them now and get free tickets every once in a while).
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I grew up a Red Sox fan thick & through so that will supercede anything else.

However, I always took a liking to the Cubs in the National League growing up and now that I'm actually living in Chicago, the interest is notched up. (Although, this season is a lost cause)

I justify it because the Cubs are in the NL and I'm actually a resident of the city.  I really don't see too much a problem.

If there was ever a Sox-Cubs World Series, I'd pull for the Red Sox 100%.

I think it's especially okay in baseball since AL teams hardly play NL teams.  I am a huge Red Sox fan, but the Dodgers are definitely my number two.  I love Matt Kemp, think he's going to make the jump into being one of the best CFs in the game next year, and when I heard Manny was traded to the Dodgers, I really wanted it to be straight up for Kemp.  Also I love Clayton Kershaw, his curveball is unbelievable.  I do think that in all sports as long as its not a team in the same division or a conference rival, then it's okay to like two teams.
do it

First of all I don't understand how some of you guys can be Dodgers fans and Red Sox when they're manager is Joe Torre and they have the steroid-jerk Manny Ramirez on their team.

Second of all I feel that you should be loyal to one team from each league that you watch and not because they win or you just like them for any reason but because you're family is fans of them or they are your home-town team NOT because they WIN or you like the colors of their jerseys or the playes on their teams or just because you decided one day to like them.
