According to an article on realgm at the moment, the Cav's are unsure how to handle the Delonte situation. If they do choose to release him, do we make a bid to sign him as our backup PG given his troubles?
I can't see him earning more than the minimum if the Cavs release him. It Could perhaps be a good thing for him to come to Boston...

I would trade them TA for Delonte straight up.   ;)

Yes, he can bring the ball up and play the 1 with Eddie on the floor and he can guard 2s in a back up role. Also, if you still want Marquis to bring the ball up (which is fine) Delonte can spread the floor. He made a dumb mistake, lets bring him home. Now if only Al Jefferson would get found with a Suburban loaded with Tasers. ;)

I like it. He's played in the Celtics system before. He likes to stretch the floor out, and for a large majority of the game doesn't force his shots. He has great 3pt shooting ability, and has improved vastly since leaving us. Id love to see him in a Celtics uniform again.

They wouldn't release him, but if they did, I'm sure we'd be one of several teams lined up to sign him.  Delonte, despite his issues, is a good player, and a good teammate.

I highly doubt they would release him, but I guess there could be a chance.

The chances of the Cavs releasing Delonte and walking away from $5 million plus(West's last year is non-guaranteed and I have no idea what part is guaranteed if they were to release him early, guess, $1MM or more) is as good as them giving me that money to play for them in place of Delonte.

I think they will insist on him getting the proper psychological and pharmaceutical help while hopefully giving him supervisory administration of his psychotropic medicines to ensure he takes them and takes them properly.

I have to agree, the only way they would release him is if his disorder was completely disrupting the team.

Would I like Delonte back? No or heck no: Which do you prefer? There are other players in the NBA I would rather have. And besides, if someone could tell me what the fascination is on this board with Delonte West, I would appreciate it.

I find it amusing how almost every player from the pre-Big 3 era who is no longer on the team is consistently maligned and underrated on this blog; sure, we have our "Bring Back Toine" posts and our "Sign Gerald Green" posts, but overall I can't help noticing the eagerness of people to just jump all over any role player who played in green before 2008 - most of them were never great, but they aren't deserving of the categorical revulsion they seem to get from the majority of the people here.

Delonte West is not a great player, but he's not bad either, and it's ridiculous to say that you wouldn't want him on this team as a backup if another team released him and all he wanted was the minimum.

Of course, nothing of the sort is going to happen, so it's kind of a moot point in any case.

DWest is the second steadiest player on the Cavs.  I can't believe for a second they would release him.  That said, if I were Ainge I'd re-sign Delonte in a heartbeat.  He's learned a lot away from the Celtics and his brand of ball ought to be welcome anywhere.  All the best to him.

I am not one of those people. There are plenty of players pre Big 3 era that we would love to have back, Chanucey, Joe Jackson, Big Al to name a few. With what has been going on recently with Delonte that is a crazy thing that just happened.

Shotgun in a guitar case? That's pretty sweet. Sign him.
