The new ESPN Boston is finally up and running...
Post any opinions, questions, cool finds, etc. here.
There is, as always on an ESPN website, a poll on the bottom of the page... "Which team will win the next championship?" which has the Patriots as the next team to hoist some hardware.

Celtics - 8%
Patriots - 58%
Red Sox - 28%
Bruins - 6%

I'm going to do my best never to visit that site, after seeing what ESPN Chicago did to local sports media in the area.

I can't avoid ESPN entirely, but i can [dang] well try.

it makes sense that the pats are first in that poll, as they would be the first team calendarwise that is in the best position to bring a championship to boston. whoever voted for the sox has blind faith that is admirable...the C's should have more than 8%, but whatever.

I'd say the Celts win the next one.  I don't think the Sox have what it takes this year (although I hope so), and the Pats' defense is suspect.  The Celts, on the other hand, are a complete team.

As for the site, I'm liking it.  I really like that Gammons' content is free so far.

I'm with you Roy, as far as the internet goes for Boston Sports there is Boston.com and Celticsblog... other than those sites you have to go to team websites which is not nearly as convenient as going to ESPN Boston and having basically every teams site combined into one.

As far as the poll. I posted that just to see what people would think about the Celtics' number being so low, after all this is a Celtics website. I do think the Pats will win the next title, but the defense is going to have to improve a lot to do so. I just happen to think they have the coaching and the potential to make those improvements.

As far as a media war like what happened in Chicago... as I said there really isn't much as far as internet coverage for local teams. Nothing can really take away from other media outlet powers like WEEI on the radio, and CSN and NESN on TV. I don't think they're going anywhere and it isn't all that disloyal to be visiting ESPN Boston.

Good to hear differing opinions though.

Crownsy, It's this type of attitude that earns you a TP from me. With the exception of ESPN games with sole broadcasting rights and there fantasy league set up, I have proudly avoided that network for the last 2 years.

I think I speak for most non-Boston fans when I say "what's the difference between that and ESPN.com?"

I think it consolidates the Boston content pretty well.  But the actual content is no different.  Personally, I will still go to WEEI.com for Boston Sports news (other than Celtics of course), mainly because I think they are always quicker to post it (especially about the Pats and Sox) than ESPN is.

I think they will go 4 for 4.  The Sox pitching will carry them this october, the Pats will simply outclass the competition, the B's will get the puck-moving defenseman they need for Kessel, and will finally win another cup, and then the C's will finish it off next summer.  It will be the best year in Boston Sports History!

Today is the day for it.  The Sox just swept the Rays in impressive fashion, and the Pats, B's, and C's are undefeated...what's there to be pessimistic about (until tomorrow)?

Calender wise if the Pats/Sox/Celts ALL WON, then the Pats would win the poll... I wouldn't be over the top shocked if all three were in the championship games.

Wouldn't it be the Sox?

Right now I think the sox are in contention.  Lester is on of the top pitchers in the game, and I think he is up there with CC as the top left hander in the game.(Johan is hurt)  If Beckett can figure his stuff out and get back to his July form I dont know if there is anybody I would rather have on the mound, especially with his october dominance.  Clay has been good if not dominant in his last 8 starts, and Dice-k can hopefully come in and give this team a boost.  They are built for a short series with Lester and Beckett at the top and it looks like they can make it to the playoffs.
