I don't know how many people have seen games where this happens, but if a spectator in the front rows spills a drink onto the court, gameplay is stopped and the teams both huddle up like a free timeout. So in theory, could we not just plant a Celtics fan to spill a drink when we desperately need a timeout?

or throw a cup at Ron Artest during a timeout if we are down by 10 to the Lakers?   Just kidding.    ;D

It might work once or twice. Penalizing home teams for fan behavior is not unheard of in sports.

Really would suck if after watching replay the management decided you spilled your cup out onto the floor for the express reason to effect the game. That could lose someone who has paid a ton of money for court side season tickets their seats forever and a whole bunch of cash. Not a risk I would take to try to assist my team in winning a game.

Sounds like a good idea is a player got hurt and needs time to recover.
