Per RealGM :

Quote
New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that free agent guard Gabe Pruitt has been signed to a contract.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Pruitt, 6-4, 170-pounds, has career averages of 2.0 points and 7.4 minutes in 62 games over two NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics. The Los Angeles, CA-native was selected by Boston, following his junior season at the University of Southern California, in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft.

Pruitt averaged 2.1 points in 15 games as a rookie in 2007-08, but was inactive for the Celtics during the playoffs and NBA Finals. He averaged 2.0 points and 7.8 minutes in 47 games last season and appeared in four games for the Celtics in the first two rounds of the 2009 NBA Playoffs.

Surprising news but I wish the best to Pruitt and hope he will get some playing time this season.

He may score 15 points a game in NY, if he can get on the floor.

I can't see Pruitt playing with Duhon, Nate + Toney ahead of him in the rotation ... but it's great to see him back in the NBA, I was getting worried about him there for awhile!

He'll probably start some games for the Knicks. Even though he put up good numbers last year, Knicks fans were dissatisfied with Chris Duhon's play. Pruitt has shown he can defend, and shoot the ball from long range. Of course he still has to make the transition from the college game to the pro's mentally. All he needs is some experience, and playing in NY with that wide open system could benefit him.

I'm wondering though, if the Celtics do add Dickau to the roster, why did they need to cut Pruitt? I'd much rather have Gabe. I almost feel like he never got enough of an opportunity here.

The Knicks have a history of signing our scraps. Vin Baker, Qyntell Woods.. I'm sure others can name some others players of ours they have signed.

Indeed.  New York might only lose by 25 instead of 30.

Pruitt could be a pretty good player.
If we're not gonna sign a PG, we should've kept him.  I'd rather have him than Giddens.  It's not like we need another SG.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Again this could be nothing more than a make good contract to push Nate and Duhon during pre-season and training camp. I haven't read anywhere where this is a guaranteed one year deal. he'll need to make that team.
