I am thinking about this, and I have not needed to make a trade idea up in a while.  Why?

The only reason I can think is that the Celtics have done such a good job this offseason, I don't see the need anymore for making another trade this offseason.

Good job Celtics!!

Anyone else have that kind of feel lately?

Yes I agree.  The Tony Scal trade ideas I think are a little premature.   I think we can get more for them if we wait until midseason and we will probably have a better idea of what we will need especially in the case of an injury.  Even if we traded to clear up a roster spot now there isn't much out there now for what we can offer.   I think it's better off if we just sit pat even though it's tough with not much else to talk about it.   ;)  oh and sign that vet PG for the min or just take Hudson.

I don't agree. I felt that way during the 07-08 season but this year I'd love to dump Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine. Plus we still need a backup point guard.

I agree that's what the Celtics should do in reality, but these be the internetz.

even title teams have a scrub or two on the end of the bench...we can't have 15 all-stars...can we?

Oh, I think once the season starts, a trade for a 2nd PG using Scali and TA are definitely called for.

But right now, there seems to be no real pressure to try and make a move now to provide a bench.

I feel just unconfortable with mid season trades.
Why not carry one second PG since training camp?

Well, if there aren't any good options and other teams aren't willing to make a decent trade, we shouldn't trade Scal and TA just for the sake of trading them; neither should we sign an ancient or not-very-good backup pg just for the sake of signing one.

I think everybody can agree we'd be better off with a solid backup pg, but it may not be a realistic option right now given the FAs available, what money we have to spend, and what other teams are willing to give up for what we have to trade.

The list of potential trade or FA targets could significantly expand once the season has gotten underway, so waiting could very well be the best thing for our team to do.

I don't feel there's an imperative need to make a trade at this point but I would like to see Danny move TA and Scal for someone more productive.

I'd love to see even a third-string, never-see-the-court PG get signed or traded for, but not at the expense of giving minutes to House.  Marty Collins-type.  I just don't see anyone we could realistically acquire being able to crack the top nine players and get any meaningful court time.

Scal, I *don't* want to trade, he's a versatile guy that can be the 6th big, play a wee bit behind Paul, and has shown over the last two years to be a dependable option.  Think we're going to need the big lug at some point.

JR/Walker; haven't seen enough of either to form a real opinion, and suspect they have so little trade value at this point as to be meaningless as trade pieces themselves.

Tony Allen, would *LOVE* to see him go, but really - what could we possibly get for him?

So, I think the roster's set, could use one little tweak but I don't think the tweak matters at all unless Rondo gets hurt, and I don't see how any deals of consequence COULD get done unless we unload someone I don't want to see get unloaded.

The Celtics are short one perimeter player. The front offices work isn't done yet.

But it is a move that can be made in the season vs. has to be done in the offseason.

I think the team can get by for part of the season playing either TA or Walker spot minutes when needed.

Those trade assets (the contracts, not the players) are worth more in season.  That's when they should be cashed in.
