When will ESPN stop with their LeBron/Cavs blinded love?

I love discussing basketball with fans of other teams and players but after making many hyperbolic statements, when they hit and run after you give them some facts about their statements, I find that irksome.

- Shaq had his best season in about 5 years last year, and the Cavs don't need 20 and 10 every night from him. 
- Cavs had a better record and made it further than we did last year.
- No one's seen KG play since he got hurt (except the aborted comeback) and regardless of why, Sheed unarguably had a lousy season.
- Our guys play better when they feel disrespected.
- Preseason rankings mean even less than preseason games.


I'm fine with this.

- The Cavs had a better record last year, and what? The Celtics had a better record than them last year, and it didn't give them more chances of being the best team in the East the past season ; this argument has no sense, the success of the past season can't predict the success of the following one. The Cavs can get injured too.

Of course you can - you'll never be 100% accurate but teams that are good one season are far more often than not good the next as well.  If you and I have a bet on picking the most playoff teams this year, and I pick all the teams that made it last year, and you draw 16 names out of a hat, who's more likely to win?

- I understand the point about not seeing KG play since his surgery and Sheed's disastrous season. But you can question the team chemistry issues in Cleveland with the arrival of Shaq, we don't even know if he will fit well in the team since we never saw him play with the Cavs.

The same argument with Shaq applies equally to Sheed, maybe more so since Sheed is known as more of a malcontent.

I believe we may finish first in the East in the regular season, and that we can definitely take the conference in the playoffs, but I completely understand where the analysts are coming from picking them.  I don't think you have to be biased or in love with LeBron to think Cleveland will be better next year.  It's a reasonable opinion, and we'll get to settle it on the court soon enough (not soon enough!).

Let's also not forget what each team is expecting from their aging superstars.  Cleveland needs Shaq to elevate them from a team who (fully healthy) has failed to make the NBA Finals the past two years to a champion.  The C's on the other hand simply need Rasheed Wallace to do what P.J. Brown did two years ago. 

Thus, while both have questions about their age and ability to still perform at a high level, Rasheed is the player who has the best chance to meet (and likely exceed) what is expected of him.

Adding Shaq was great.  But Sheed could never have joined the Cs, if KG is healthy they beat the Cavs no problem this year.  With Sheed able to neuter players like Z and Varejao, and Perk and BBD muscling (or fatting) up to Shaq, I don't see what the Cavs front court has to offer.

And I live in Ohio.  I learned a long time ago not to discuss basketball with Lebron fans.

When has Sheed ever stopped Big Z or even Varejao for that matter? You guys keep acting like Sheed is good still. And for the record I never made Shaq out to be 2000-era Shaq. But the Cavs could of did nothing and still beat the Celtics. Why is it that Sheed is a problem for the Cavs all of sudden, when he wasn't a problem in his prime Detroit years? I actually like talking basketball with Boston fans, but you guys are overrating Sheed big time. Again, I have seen him play the Cavs in 3 playoffs series the last 4 years. No problems then, I don't see what changed.

When Garnett and Sheed are in the game Cleveland will get killed on the defensive end if they try to play Shaq or Z because Sheed will be out by the three point line and KG away from the basket.  Neither Z or Shaq are effective defending away from the basket.  We may be overrating Sheeds overall skill level but you are underrating the way that he plays the game and how cleveland will have to adapt to cover him

Even if what you're arguing is true -- the Cavs have shut Rasheed down -- don't you think it makes a huge, huge difference that Rasheed is coming off the bench, rather than starting?  Rather than in Detroit, where Rasheed was the best big man, he'll now be the third banana.  He'll be matched up more against bench players, and of course he'll be rejuvenated playing for a true contender.

I think you're vastly underrating Rasheed.  He's not all-star caliber anymore, but he's one of the best backup big men in the entire NBA.

I'm so glad he didn't waste my Buckeye's time at OSU.  I'm really hoping he leaves the state, I can't stand all the fair weather fans that he has brought out...
