I can only imagine we were holding off on the PG because we might have been able to swing one in a 3 team deal

now that Daniels is coming with the BAE, I would hope that we'll get something else done pretty quickly

I don't think Danny will sign anyone before training camp with the roster as is, unless a really good opportunity presents itself. Also, we really don't need to fill that final spot with a PG.

Agreed!

Maybe KG is already on the phone with Ty Lue...

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
If Tyronne Lue, and Carlos Arroyo are our best options I think I'd like to see what Hudson has got. We've got enough vets to allow us to play a rookie 10-12 minutes.

Nope, I think we haven't signed one because we don't have an extra roster spot.  If Daniels really is signed, and there is no trade, I would not be surprised if this is the team we go into the season with, perhaps with a couple guys invited to camp to compete with Hudson for the last roster spot on a partially guaranteed contract.

Me too.  Given the age of our squad (I'll now say something unpopular), I think we are in the last year of our window.  Get the best vet PG you can now and let Hudson walk.  Might have kept him had a trade materialized, but if I had to choose between a vet PG and him for THIS year, I'll take the vet.  To heck with keeping developmental guys.  It's now or never (or at least a good while).

You win championships with stars performing at or near their peak.  Our big 3 and Sheed are all far enough on the back side of their careers that I really think this is our last shot.  Capitalize now.

it'd be nice to see this get resolved somehow. this has been the never ending story - the quest for a backup pg. You'd think they'd been searching for the holy grail. there's been plenty of decent otions available - sign one!

Yeah load up with quality vets for the next couple years at least, developing players be [dang]ed. Roll a Scal/TA/Giddens or Walker deal to get a Posey/Nocioni. Then sign Arroyo for extreme insurance. We could still sign Hudson if desired..

I don't like Murray.  We already have an undersized 2 in a 1's body in House.  We don't need two.  Though I think Eddie ultimately beats most of those guys out--somewhat negating their value--I think a purer PG like Arroyo, Jackson, Knight, or Vaughn would be nice to have in case Rondo goes down for a few weeks.

However, I wouldn't stress too much about it.  If Rondo goes down for the season, none of those guys will make up for it enough to still win #18.  Furthermore, if he only goes down for a few weeks, any of those guys will be good enough for the C's to win most regular season games.

I agree.  I'd rather upgrade the backup SF.  I think Daniels and House are good enough to back up the PG.  I don't think Daniels is the solution for the backup SF though.  I'd rather see someone a little bigger and/or athletic.  If we can't trade for one maybe Rodney Carney?

I could live with Bobby Jackson, Arroyo or Flip Murray though.  Those guys still have game.

I agree that a vet back-up is the best scenario for this year.

However, I think the evidence is only a bit more than circumstantial that the window closes after this year. The circumstantial evidence rests in that the 3 are at an age where deterioration often begins. However, Pierce has not shown me that he has slowed much at all -- and given that he is not overplayed I think he can be strong for 2 or 3 more years. I also believe that given Ray's diligent work ethic that he could maintain his current level of performance for a few years. The big question mark is the impact of Kevin's injury. If KG comes back strong with no ill effects from the injury -- is it really crazy to think they can compete for an additional year or 2 beyond this year -- especially given improvement from Rondo/Perk/Baby?
