Memphis is a place that I would love to play. The Grizzlies have good young players with a great upside. I love the city of Memphis too.

I would lead by example. I could show how important it is to work hard everyday, play the game the right way, & just like it's your last!

AI you have never played the game the right way ever in your whole NBA career...

And you sure did a good job leading by example, working your a** off, and playing like every game was your last, last season when you went down with a fake back injury and decided not to play because you didn't want to come off the bench...

Hopefully one of the games this season will be officially your last so we won't have to have a player like you in the league any more!

Pretty standard BS coming from AI. Same thing most players say when they're looking for a contract someplace. Or have just arrived in a locker room.

Wait two months into the season when they're losing a bunch.

I have to disagree 100% with what's going on here.

Yeah, the last few months in Detroit are a black mark on his career (Detroit handled that pretty badly themselves), but please don't try to say that Iverson doesn't leave his heart on the court every night.

Why would you be happy to not have him on the court anymore?  One of the most fearless, dynamic competitors the league has ever seen.

Maybe you don't like his persona and off-the-court behavior, but this is AI.  You're going to be telling your kids and grandkids about him one day.  I know I will.

Pure insanity.

I would wager a *lot* of money that those tweets were sent by somebody in his agent's office.

I KNOW I WILL NEVER TELL MY KIDS AND GRANDKIDS ABOUT HIM... I DON'T EVER WANT THEM TO KNOW ABOUT HIM BECAUSE I DON'T EVER WANT THEM TO PLAY BASKETBALL LIKE THE WAY HE DOES... SELFISH AND ME FIRST!

This is lunacy.  What about his game don't you want them to learn?  And don't give me anything about selfishness.... if you ever watched the man play, you'll know he didn't play selfishly.  Yeah, he may throw up 4-5 ill-advised shots a game, but there are 4 or 5 other times in those 48 minutes where he sacrifices his body for the team.

AI is a legend.  To say otherwise... I just can't comprehend it.

And just to follow up my last post... he's 36th all-time in assists, just under 200 away from Larry Bird.

You don't get there by playing selfishly and me-first.

Next argument?

I don't want to get into the million reasons why AI is the defnition of what a basketball player should not be because I am to tired to argue right now but I have on question for you... would you like AI on the Celtics?  I'm predicting that you are going to say no and all those reasons why you say no are the reasons why AI is a selfish basketball player and plays the way no one should...

I'll give for the one year he got his MVP he did play with heart but he is the definition of a me first player!

Tell me... If AI is such a legend and such a team player why does he have 0 rings?

What does leaving his heart out on the court mean to you?

I don't see much heart in quitting on your team by refusing to come off the bench.

Uh, since when are assists not selfish? When you're the primary ball handler next to scoring assists are the stat you're judged and paid by. So for a PG getting assists is not "unselfish".

Also consider how many of his teams possessions he's used, he had to get assists. AI is a good passer, but too often he drives into trouble and turns it over or puts his team mates in a bad spot.

I would have to agree that I will not be telling my kids about AI.  Say what you will about his heart.  He most definitely gave his all and played with heart, but that doesn't change that he played in the wrong way.  There is no doubt he was a me first player.  You can look at his assists and said that he had a lot, but as it was mentioned earlier, he controlled the ball so much that he HAD to rack up assists.  The problem with AI was that he shot way too much.  If you look back at those philly teams that made playoff runs, their offense was basically have AI chuck up shots and if he scored, perfect, if not everyone crash the boards and try to put it back up or give it back to AI.  Every game he put up ridiculous amount of shots despite shooting at a low percentage.  He absolutely gave up his body, but that doesn't make him a legend.  By that definition, Antoine was a legend.  Say what you will about his game, but he gave his all for winning.
