To me it looks like NJ. They've got the space and talent to become a real force in the NBA starting in 2011. But is that location desirable enough?

I can't help but think "what the hell in Danny Ferry doing?" the Cavs had a legit shot at adding a Dwayne wade or Chris Bosh to their roster but spent that money on Anderson Varejao? What is going on in Cleveland?

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I think the Nets clearly have the best foundation, but the Heat have the most opportunity to totally remake their team.  They'll resign Wade and bring in another elite guy beside him, I think, and should be sitting pretty.  The thing I worry about with them is signing enough competent role players.

Two words: SOUTH BEACH.

Clearly Miami... do not underestimate how much allure this has to NBA players.  Especially when they have the potential to team up with DWade.

Whether it's the Nets or the Heat depends on large part on how severe Michael Beasley's issues turn out to be.

Heat have the natural advantage of free agents ALWAYS wanting to play in Miami.  Brooklyn Nets ought to have a better chance of recruiting free agents than New Jersey, though; the lights will be shining pretty brightly.  The fact that the holes the team DOES have are primarily at the positions that are usually easiest to fill is a positive as well; the best talent is in South Beach with Wade and Beasley, but there are always a lot of good wing players that can be signing in free agency, that's not alwats the case with point guards and centers.

Forget other teams for 2010-2011. Lets enjoy our Celtics and hope we keep our core and keep adding to it, including a SG and SF to take over for Ray and Pierce as they decline.*

*My guilty prayer is that Kevin Durant ends up a Celtic

Can't stop, Rondo!

Miami are by far the best. Any team that has an MVP caliber player and oodles of cap space is the best set up for free agency. They get one all-star and a good supporting cast and they're a 55+ win team, they get two all-stars and a good supporting cast and they're a title contender. They've got more talent, are closer to contending, and have more opportunity to acquire talent than any of the other teams.

Think of this way ... if I offered you Wade or Harris + Lopez ... who are you taking? It's Wade in a landslide.

They've got to re-sign Wade though; can't ignore what I think is a fairly substantial risk that he walks, especially if the team underperforms this year.  Any team with cap space that can's sign LeBron is going to be whispering sweet little wonderfuls into his ear on on 07-01-2010.

If the Cavs can't resign Lebron I believe they are worst setup for 2011.

Actually, part of that $44 million will need to be used toward Wade.
