How in the world do you figure that a player that is currently shooting 38% from the field, 29% from 3-point, whose defense has been degrading is a solid player? He's horrible, there's no way around it.
As for Acie Law and his playing time? Just go and check his game logs. His been given plenty of opportunities to prove his worth, and he has failed every single time. And he hasn't been playing 8-10 minutes. In his first season he averaged 15 minutes a game. That's a lot of playing time for a rookie. In his second year he averaged 10.2. Career 12.8.
His decrease in minutes are the evidence that he sucked. Atlanta had every single motivation to make him a good contributor for them, he even started some games early in the season in the year. That's quite a big vote of confidence towards him, and he faield. The opportunities have been there.
Oh i'm sorry, i left out 2 minutes. and 15 min. is good for a rookie, agreed. but the numbers in decline, is a result of Atlanta acquiring more guards, in which they were in need of because speedy claxton was hurt, and anthony johnson, and tyronne lue were hurt as well, and they ended up getting rid of A. johnson and lue i believe, and added Flip Murray and Maurice Evans, and Bibby was healthy and was there for the entire season. thats why there was a decline in Minutes. you can look at stats but if you dont know or understand the story behind the stats, your just looking at calculated numbers.
And if your going to use Acie's situation in atlanta to prove why he shouldnt be a celtic (two diffent coaching styles, different roster makeup, and definetly different style of play), Using that theory, then the celtics shouldn't even be relevant right now. If we looked at each players stats or how they did with their previous team then Eddie House should have never been signed, Kevin Garnett couldn't get his guys to the playoffs in minnesota for the last 3-4 years, PJ Brown should of been looked over, Rasheed hardly did anything last year compared to his previous years, Sam Cassell shouldn't have even crossed the C's radar, Doc Rivers sure as heck should not have been the coach. Based off your explanation as to why Acie Law wouldn't excel in his role as a Celtic, thats basically what can be assumed.
Devean George is a solid player thats all i need to say......Horrible players, are players like: Jeremy Richardson, Kwame Brown,Sean Marks, David Harrison, Sonny Weems, Pat Burke, Jiri Welsch, Marcus Banks,Quicy Douby, Calvin Booth, and others, most of these dudes won't even be playing in the league next year because they are the real, Horrible players. I feel sorry for you if you can say you would pick any of these guys over Devean George.
Maybe your definition of solid is different from my defintion of solid, but to put it in simple terms, when i say solid player, i mean a player who: Is not close to being an all-star, not even on the All-star ballot, a player who knows how to be effective, a player who is ineffective at moments, no severe weaknesses in their game AT/FOR THEIR POSITION, and a player who has somewhat of a reputation amongst those of the NBA world/frat.
Once again, its about how a player would fit into what doc rivers and the celtics do. not about past stats, the Hawks and Celtics play two totally different styles, and this is why i can't understand why so many people seem to bash acie law, and use his stats to define what kind of player he is and can be. because i know everybody on here had to have watched the 1st round 7 game series against the Hawks in 08', it is two different styles,
I can see how effective he would be in a celtics jersey, especially the way doc likes to use his second unit, Law would fit perfect because he and Rondo could play together, he and House could play together.
Its all about how the player would fit into what the celtics do, not about what they did in other systems, how do their skills translate into what we do.
