If he continues with that crap we might be in for a dissapointing season (as much as I hate to say it; rays offense is huge and a major part of our chemistry and us winning games )

Ray Allen didn't slump at all in the regular season.  He tied his career high in FG% (48.0%), shot 40.9% from 3PT, and set career highs in eFG% (.575) and TS% (.624).

He was excellent against Chicago in the playoffs, but did slump some against Orlando.  He was pretty terrible in Games 1,3,5 and 6 of that series.  He was good in Game 7, though, so if the most recent game counts, we should be all set. ;)

Fatigue and lingering injuries caught up with him a bit at the end of the year.  With a deeper team, he should be able to get more rest and be better able to play in the playoffs, I would imagine.

Ray had one of the best shooting seasons in his career. He limped through our championship run, too but he gets it done just enough most nights. I don't see anything that suggests he'll fall off very far from last year. Dude scored 51 in the playoffs... He's still crazy good.

Ray Allen's jump-shot is one of the prettiest things in basketball. I expect he'll never truly be in a slump. The odd game here and there maybe, but there is no one who I would rather get the ball to at the end of a game.

I'm pretty sure Ray had an injury in the Orlando series and I think it was his hamstring.   If I remember correctly I think he was also wearing a wrap around his leg.  Besides that series he had a very efficient year.

I also don't think you can't ignore the fact that the Magic were cheating off of Perk, Davis, Moore, and litterally running away from Rondo when he didn't have the ball, in order to block the passing lanes, and make sure Allen never recieved the ball in position to do anything with it.  They absolutely smothered him in that series, so that even when he was open, he had no rhythm going.

They won't be able to do that with KG and Wallace.

Yeah, Ray (or Doc? or both?) acknowledged that he played injured in the Orlando series. Sure, he played badly in this series and suffered from the cumulated fatigue against good defenders (Courtney Lee, and Reddick, who was surprisingly good on D). But Ray also hit a huge shot when asked to, in game 5.

Overall, he had a great season (as shown above with his stats) and good playoffs. Ray basically saved us in the Bulls series, and his 51 points performance was huge, it's amazing to see how sharp he was that night when you re-watch the game, he looked like he couldn't miss the basket.

Hopefully he will get more rest next year, thus being more effective and avoiding slumps (though the slumps are unavoidable, they just last longer sometimes).

Ray was not himself; but contributed any way he could. He plays at such a high level; but is a shooter and shooters will have ups and downs. Not worried about his shooting; but health is always a concern for a team with more than its share of 30 somethings.

In regards to the title of this thread...

Expect Ainge to go cheap again and expect Ray to sign for the vet min b/c he's too worried about Ray's slump games.
Can't stop, Rondo!

You think Ray signs for the vet minimum next year?

What? That is nonsense. Ray Allen is in position to demand at least the MLE from every team in the NBA. The Celtics could conceivably lock him up for around $7 million <--------( my predication is 3 years 20 - 25 million)

Is this seriously a topic of discussion?  We're talking about arguably the greatest shooter in the history of the game who had literally a few bad shooting nights in the playoffs, and there's now speculation that it's going to continue for an entire season?  That's simply ridiculous.

Let's please cool it with the "stupid" and "ridiculous" comments.  I have a soft spot for Ray, too, but let's be as respectful as possible.

Didn't Ray drop 50 in the playoffs?  After a season where he played too many minutes, and a playoff series where he was played to the point of exhaustion, I think four poor shooting games can be expected, especially in light of Orlando's defense and Ray's lingering injuries.
