With Ortiz and A-Rod I have to wonder when will major major names pop up?

Names like

Cal Ripken

Tom Brady

Peyton Manning

Lebron

Shaq

Derek Jeter

Curt Schilling

Wayne Gretzky

Michael Jordan

Kobe

Brett Farvre

Jerry Rice

Barry Sanders

Mike Phelps

Yao

Sooner or later one or more of these names is going to pop up and when it does I wonder what that will be like

Well, I'd say it's already happened; Manny and A-Rod are both lock HOFers and high up on a lot of all-time lists.  Bonds would've been a sacred name if he hadn't already been a media pariah, and if people hadn't pretty much known he was juicing for years before the proof came out.  And wasn't like half of the legendary 1970s Steelers teams on steroids?  It was legal at the time, but it's still PED use.  Do you just mean "golden boy" types who are revered by the media and fans?

I think you're going to see Ripken on the list soon enough.  I think he may be Jose's hall of fame guy who did steroids.
do it

Yeah I guess that's what I mean. I agree A-Rod would have been on my list had he not gotten caught.

When I say legendary names I mean guys people have grown up worshiping, that could have practically run for public office, and were considered near saints. A-Rod was pretty close to that.

How about Terry Bradshaw?  A little before my time but he was definitely idolized in the Pittsburgh area at the very least.
