Not only is this a salary dump but it is also all about the giant leap forward that the Hornets correctly believe Julian Wright is going to make this year. Watch both Wright boys, Julian and Brandon, become candidates for Most Improved Player. They are going to have big come out years both.

I've been heralding the Wright Bros. since they came into the league, too.  I'm glad to see Julian get a real shot at playing time, but I doubt that Brandan does in Golden State.

... and NO now has a trade exemption they can use to facilitate a mid season trade to shore up any areas of weakness.

I'll be interested to see if Butler pushes Ricky Davis out of the rotation. I imagine he'll be a player Dunleavy will like.

Although, I still don't know what to make of a player who breaks out at 30.

The really interesting thing about this move is that if it happened a couple weeks ago, the Hornets may have made a run at Big Baby.

Honestly, I doubt it. I think they would've taken Davis for extremely low money, otherwise they would've looked at cheaper options, which they ended up doing. Plus, I think the Chandler for Okafor filled a big need in that he's more likely to give them solid minutes than Chandler was/is. I would think they'd have been more likely to go after someone like Shelden Williams for the minimum than Davis for $3/6 with l.t.
Go Celtics.

i like julian more than brandon for this year, considering his competition is mo peterson and peja and he doesn't play for don nelson. but lwet's keep in mind that scott has publicly trashed him a couple of times.

still, let's face it. this was about the money. shinn saved 8mil. ask him and he'll tell you it's about wright or whatever else but it's about the 8mil, rest assured.

I still don't think there's gonna be much PT for Wright - he's a 3/4, not a 2. His competition includes Posey as well as Peja and Peterson. I'd still like a Scal, TA, Giddens for Antonio Daniels and Wright. New Orleans saves over a million, 2 with the l.t., get two guys who can potentially play on the wing in Giddens and TA, another big or an opportunity to save another million in Scal, get rid of Daniels who they don't need with Paul and Collison, and don't take on long term money. Boston spends an extra $2 mil with the tax, but doesn't bring on long term money and fills two needs - backup point and backup 3 - for 3 guys who don't project to be in the top 10 on their roster.
Go Celtics.

won't happen. meanwhile, peja's always hurt, and mo pete is a joke.

They both sort of fell off a cliff. When is Chris Paul a free agent?

New Orleans traded him to Clips for a draft pick..? What the hell? Couldn't we try something like that? Why isn't Aigne talking to the teams giving away players so we might end up with more than just Daniels and fill more holes...
Can't stop, Rondo!

Dude, this has been covered in multiple earlier posts.  The Clips had cap room to take on the contract.  We didn't.  End of story.

I was never too high on Brandon, but I was (and still am) drinking the Julian Wright koolaid during the 2007.  If we wouldve kept the #5 pick, I wanted us to draft either Wright, Spencer Hawes, or Corey Brewer.
