People are quickly saying no, but have no reasoning behind it.  SA plays one of their best 3 players off the bench, so the idea should not just be thrown away without reasoning why it's not a good idea.

I think no and here is why.  I don't think it was the starting job that gave BBD his opportunity to shine.  It wasn't like he was a monster in the first 6 minutes of games last year.  It was the abundance of consistent minutes that allowed him to do so.  Regardless of BBD starting or coming off the bench, he's still going to play the same number of minutes per game, so I don't think it will have any effect on his game.  Any extra minutes given to Glenn would come at KG's expense, which I don't want.

When did we become the San Antonio Celtics? When did Greg Popovich become our coach?

I guess this topic didnt go too well for me.  However, why would you consider starting Sheed over Perk?  Didn't Perk prove himself over the past year?

Also, my point was more that Baby was more useful with the starters than as a bench player, possibly because of the talent around him.  Personally, I don't think that KG needs to play with that group to be as great as he is.  He proved that in Minnesota.  The most effective way to run a team is to put every player in a position to succeed.  Having Baby in the starting lineup made him successful.  I am not suggesting KG losing minutes to Baby.  I am suggesting that this could be the Celts greatest chance to have all their players playing at the top of their games.

Also, who is suggesting that Baby will guard Shaq and Howard?  Is Perk worthless to you?

This scenario should not be considered. By anybody. Ever. Not even in their dreams when they sleep.

obviously this isnt realistic

but i disagree it should not be considered

yes SA brings in manu off the bench but you dont see them doin it with timmy why? cuz he is on of their own big 3 and will always start

we got sheed to b the glue 4 the 2nd unit n cause problems 4 other teams with weak benches

sheed 6th man of the year not starter perk knows everything bout how everyone works sure kg n sheed r friends but that startin 5 wont have the same chemistry as our 5 r now

heres the other thing too consider....... we will need a new gm n coach if they r the ones 2 sit him down n say
kevin....we decided to bring u in off the ben

i didnt finishing writing bench cuz kg would have already ripped their hearts out n they would b dead b4 they finished lol

If there's one player to do the Ginobili thing with, it'd be Ray Allen anyway.  Start Daniels or House and bring Ray off the bench 5-6 minutes into the first.  Still don't think we should do that either, but it'd make more sense for that kind of scenario.

GMs who think like the OP are why things happen in the NBA like Mikki Moore getting the 3-year, $18 million contract before being waived by Sacramento.
