Per RealGM (and the Cleveland Plain Dealer) :

The Cavaliers have shown interest in Leon Powe, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that no progress has been made.

"Also, word is no progress w/ Cavs and Leon Powe. As of right now, doesn't look like it will happen. But Joe Smith still very possible," Brian Windhorst of the Plain Dealer wrote on his Twitter page Friday night.

Powe is still rehabbing from offseason knee surgery that is expected to keep him off the court until the All-Star break.

Sounds like good news to me! Leon probably won't sign with Cleveland. I want to see him succeed again in the league and sign with a team, if possible the C's but it's unlikely so I will be glad if he signs with any team except the Cavs (I can't stand them).

translation: the cavs don't want to give a guaranteed contract to a guy coming off his third major knee surgery, they would rather sign a dinosaur who was ineffective last year when they needed him

\

limitless funds, they are after every single available player. They have the "lebron exception" from stern, which means nothing counts against the salary cap

If Leon Powe's rehabbing knee is OK with team doctors Tuesday in Cleve, he will sign a 2-year deal with the Cavs, a source told Y! Sports.

Sad to see but it happens. Cavs get Powe and Joe Smith might end up in ATL. Let's focus on getting a vet PG and SF wing
Can't stop, Rondo!

I'm not sure why, but I think I believe you. I certainly don't recommend it, however.

Definitely don't recommend it. He's a moderately successful second round pick folks. I get more upset when I see Joe Johnson killing a team for the Hawks than I will when Powe suits up for another team.

After the way our frontcourt disintegrated last year, I don't blame Danny for not wanting to take the risk and going with a healthy Landlord over Powe. I wish Leon well but the Celtics couldn't afford the risk this year..

We could have now that we have Sheed and Baby on board. But I like our team much better for the regular season with a healthy backup who can play right away as our 5th. Still it'd be bittersweet to see Powe on the court in the playoffs.

I fully expect to play the Cavs in the ECF.

I am no Orthopedic expert and don't claim to know Powe's medical situation, but from the things I've read it's going to be a long way back for Leon. I think it's much more likely that Powe is not in the playoffs..
