So I guess till Daniels or BBD comes here we have the LLE and biannual.

The LLE is the bi-annual exception.

Since league rules dictate a team must only have 13, I see it more than likely the C's won't carry more than 14, at least at first.  Maybe it won't be these 14 if a deal gets done involving Scal, TA, Giddens or Walker, but they probably won't fill all 15 available spots before the season.

Since we have a lot of expiring contracts and probably want to unload Tony ASAP (if needed, along with Scal at the deadline), we absolutely need to fill the roster with 15 players. Tony would likely be included in a deal where we get less (=better) players back, so that would reduce our roster even more.

I think this may work out a little differently. I have a theory that Indy were willing to take scal in the first place but not TA. Danny really wanted a solid 5 bigs rotation so was not willing to part with scal just yet. Now that we signed Williams - he has just that. So now we do an S&T on Scal and can pay MD more money (say 10 for 3). If I'm Danny I add Giddens and take back Mcroberts for the nothing he's making. That way we have a solid 6 bigs rotation and place to sign a PG.

Why do we need an extra player to make a trade work? That's silly as any player we sign will be for the veteran's minimum.

Hey you're right. TP. That's stupid it has two names. The BAE is more accurate.

That might have been the reason and sounds real good, but I believe McRoberts cannot be traded just yet, because he just re-signed. Either way, Scal + Walker/Giddens for Daniels would work for me, then sign Swift.

I believe Asterix is on the money with his theory.  I thought all along that getting Sheldon Williams was necessary if DA had to ship Scal to Indy. Now with SW signed officially, and BBD almost onboard, I think the S&T with Indy goes down right away.LB just didn't want TA. Scal is a good citizen, with a good BBIQ, and can shoot the 3(a must for Obie)! I think Scal and one of JR or Walker goes with Scal. Then Daniels is on board, and a hunch that maybe Bowen is signed to fill the 3 pt shooting void without Scal. Hudson then stays also.
TA then becomes the "hanging chad" that nobody seems to want--at least right now. Think that makes "14", and that's what Danny likes to go with. Just my hunch.

1. Rondo
2. Allen
3. Paul Pierce
4. KG
5. Perk
6. Sheed
7. Daniels
8. House
9. Baby
10. Sheldon
11. Scal
12. TA
13. Walker
14. Giddens

15..... Hmmm? At this point I feel like Danny will just sign Hudson in place of Pruitt to even out the roster and not spend much money. During the season we will probably see something happen with Scal and TA depending on the weakness of the team. Also who knows what Danny will do with Rays expiring, hopefully keep it.

Id like to see the 15th spot go to Marbury, Arroyo, Jwill, or Bowen, but im thinking it will most likely be Hudson.

I was glad to see that Hudson was helping out Walker at the charity event. I think he will be around (assuming his finger heals) precisely because we need someone to practice against Rondo and House who can apply pressure and also fill in as a backup. Would he need to be guaranteed? If not I don't see any downside there. Could fill a need as a backup down the road.

Is interesting that he was also doing pre-draft work outs against some of the top guard prospects so is a diamond in the rough; but not an unknown prospect.

Ehm, in case you missed it, we waived Pruitt 8 days ago. Oh, and Giddens is also on the roster. Oh yeah, and his name is Shelden.

Looks like we aren't going to be able to trade for daniels, herald is reporting.

Yeah, I think this should be readily apparent to most people by now.  If we were going to do a sign and trade, we would have worked it out by now.

As for the rest, I don't think Hudson will be part of our 15 man lineup, and I'm not really sure we're going to bother getting Bowen.

We may just pick up BBD and Daniels and go into the season with a 14 man roster.
I don't see the downside of carrying a full 15-man roster.  Hudson's rookie contract will be cheap and he would benefit from the C's coaching staff rather thasn him playing on a Euro roster.

If we can't trade tony allen to the Pacers, some team must be willing to take him. He's not horrible. He's just been in Boston too long.

Here is a list of players currenlty and officially under contract with the Celtics (in no particular order):

1. Rondo
2. Ray
3. PP
4. KG
5. Perk

6. Sheed
7. House
8. Scal
9. Tony
10. Landlord
11. Walker
12. Giddens

This is the official list. Assuming that BBD will sign the contract next week:

13. Big Baby

Then we will get Marquis Daniels, and let's assume we get him with the LLE (which I don't want to happen):

14. Daniels

So... that leaves one spot to go. There are three options for #15:

  • Backup PG: Marbury (highly unlikely), Lue, J-Will, Carter, etc.
  • Bruce Bowen (or another low cost wing player)
  • Lester Hudson

Now the team is obviously trying to trade for Daniels, because else it would have been done with the LLE a long time ago.

  • If it's a 1-for-1, we would have two spots open (since Daniels would take Tony's #9 spot), and I believe Hudson would get one.
  • If we get one player less than we ship out (2-for-1, 3-for-2, etc.), we can sign Hudson, Bowen and, let's just say, Lue.

Our current rotation:

C: Perk/Sheed
PF: KG/Landlord/Scal
SF: PP/Walker
SG: Ray/Tony/Giddens
PG: Rondo/House

It might happen this way:

C: Perk/Sheed/Landlord
PF: KG/Baby/Scal
SF: PP/Bowen/Walker
SG: Ray/Daniels
PG: Rondo/House/Lue/Hudson

So how do you think it will pan out?

You're forgeting Hudson. If we sign him (hope so) we'll have 15 players and someone will have to be traded/waived in case we want someone else.

1 Rondo
2 Ray
3 Paul
4 KG
5 Perk

6 House
7 T. Allen
8 Daniels
9 Baby
10 Sheed

11 Hudson
12 Giddens
13 Billy Walker
14 Scal
15 Shelden
