So who thinks that Baby will be on our team through both of the 2 years? I'm not saying he wont be, but we can now sign him for cheaper money while there was a lot of interest in him out there.  I could definitely see Danny flip him to another team at some point since now other teams would be getting him for a lot less. But then again we'd have to match him with another equal contract to get back so maybe not.

We will see though what happens.  Either way I'd definitely be happy to have him back as a Backup, assuming he can still produce in less minutes.  I know Tony has that problem.  We will have to see.

Definitely a fan of this signing though!

We could definitely trade him, but I don't think that there will be too much interest in him. Not until he's an expiring deal.

Definitely a good thing in terms of depth.  I don't really see Baby getting a ton of minutes and I don't think this is a good place for his financial future (as he won't get enough minutes here to improve his contract chances in two years), but it's definitely good for the Celtics.

Wow. This couldn't have worked out much better for the C's. This offseason has been very nice - and this team is very good. Better than last year for sure.

We're deep with bigs, deep with guards, deep with scrappy hustle guys - and we got a good mix of vets and youngins.

But most importantly, we have a lot of contract flexibility.

$30M in expiring/team option contracts this season! Why be in a rush to ditch TA or Scals contracts now? Maybe cap/luxury reasons, but I'd try like heck to hold on to those chips. We got a roster that can compete for a title - and assets to blow it up in the injuries/age ravishes our roster this season.

We've already seen what Danny can do with some good young players and a boatload of expiring deals. And next years FA class has franchise guys - we could be players then too.

Lastly, we could probably use a true backup PG. But, we could get away without one - Ray, Eddie, Daniels and Hudson could do just fine. I'd also be pretty pumped to land Bowen, he'd make a big impact.

But this team can win it all as is.

Roster looks to be set other than a few spots:

PG Rondo, lester or TBA
SG Ray, Eddie, Tony (only fault with the entire roster), giddens
SF PP, Daniels, Walker
PF KG, Baby, Sheldon, Scal
C Perk, Sheed

i could see bowen being offered vet min if a sign and trade happens where tony and giddens/walker are dealt...but i don't think we do a sign and trade for daniels...i think scal and tony are dealt at the trade deadline

This is great news - we have a 5 man big rotation that's maybe the best in the league.  KG and Sheed can get lots of rest in the regular season with Perk, BBD, Williams, and maybe Scal to put in the game.  We just need a true backup PG and we'll be golden, but either way this has been a very good offseason.

TP for you.  Agree completely, though I would say there not much difference between Bowen vs. TA as the backup wing defender.  Obviously would prefer BB though.

Baby's deal is 2 years/$6.3 Mil.  Good deal for both sides.

Glen Davis could sign a new contract with the Celtics [team stats] as early as today or tomorrow, according to a source close to negotiations between the restricted free agent and the team.

Davis agreed to a two-year contract worth approximately $6.3 million, including a starting point of approximately $3 million next season, during talks Friday and yesterday. He was in town and expected to take a physical today before officially signing the deal.

The Celtics, who backed off their request for a third year at a team option, also hope to wrap up business with free agent swingman Marquis Daniels by the end of the week, according to a league source.

  • 36 charges and counting..
Perkins/Wallace
KG/BBD  :D

Not too mention a fearless PG who's only getting better and oh yeah Ray Allen and Finals MVP Paul Pierce.

Sprinkle in a little House and Daniels

Compare that top 9 to any other team in the league. :P
Little Fockers 1.5/10
Gulliver's Travels 1/10
Grown Ups -20/10
Tron Legacy 6.5/10

2 years/6.3M is a good deal for the Celtics.  BBD gets a raise though not as much as he hoped but he'll be poised for free agency in 2011.  I see this as mutually beneficial for both parties.  Celtics are pretty much set for big men - KG, Perk, Wallace, BBD, Sheldon Williams, and Scalabrine.  This is a good thing, as they will need more fouls to give when facing Dwight Howard in the playoffs.

I wonder if the C's are considered the team to beat yet, or if Vince Carter's acquisition by Magic make them the team to beat.

Still waiting for Daniels shoe to drop.  Apparently Larry won't take Tony Allen, so it might have to be for the bianuual exception.
