One trillion dollars is about $4000 for every registered vehicle in the country (including cars, trucks, buses, EVERYTHING).
Somehow I doubt the average vehicle is losing $4000 at traffic lights.
Your gas theory might hold some weight, except I hate to tell you... every city planner and traffic light manufacturer in the world has already realized this and thought about it way more than you. Sorry to burst your bubble... but all of these things have already been considered in great depth since about the day after the first traffic light went up.
"I thought it was trillions? Maybe they would listen to you if you got more people involved--I agree a lone email won't do anything.
But what scientific evidence do you have that this "gas wastage" is so costly? I see how you came to your conclusion with basic reasoning, but how can you be sure there isn't a caveat, or a variable you're not aware of? "
Its probably in the trillions. I don't have any evidence as of now. Why wouldn't the "gas wastage" be costly, gas prices are on the news all the time and it is an important part of the economy. What would the variable be?
