Definitely Shelden Williams. It was clear that Big Ben was done even before his broken leg of mid-season last year. Now, post leg-gate, he is a year older and undoubtedly done. Shelden is at least servicable, which is all you need from a 4th or 5th big.

Why is it a smart move by Detroit if what they're doing is taking minutes away from a "younger player who has solid NBA talent and may have a future with the club"? I fail to see the logic. It looks like a move that crowds the depth chart and prevents a younger, better player from flourishing.

Wonder if we tried to get Wallace over Williams? I'd still take Big Ben, honestly. He averaged 6.5 boards for Cleveland last year (Not sure how much he played after his injury, but he did play in the playoffs with limited minutes)

I think Ben could still be a good player, especially for this team in the same roll Shelden will fill.

Because they're not going to give him those minutes. As a fifth big in the rotation, playing situational minutes, and as a locker presence ... Big Ben is excellent.

I'm disappointed that Ben won't have a larger role. When these rumours began, they hadn't signed Wilcox, and I thought he could have filled a larger role for the club than the one he's getting now. I think he has too much basketball left in him to be a non-rotation player.

That's funny--I don't think he has any basketball left in him at all. He broke his leg last year, he turns 35 on September 10th, He wasn't good before the injury, and in the playoffs he was abysmal, averaging 1.1 PPG 2.7 RPG in 12.6 minutes per game. To me, he is an old, injury prone player who is far past his prime and has lost a ton of his athletic ability (which is what he relied on to defend centers--being only 6'9).

i never believed dumars to be a great gm the way the media made him out to be(rasheed was a gift,darko over carmelo). i actually think he's very BAD. i thought the gordon and villanueva signing were odd too. villanueva much more so.

Good point to make that Ben is only 6'9. Maybe Sheldon can pick up his game and become that type of player.

AI in Miami? I think him and DWade would make a sick duo EXCEPT Pat Riley said earlier this week that Chalmers will not be replaced as the starting PG.
